RESOLUTION
Approving Grant Application for Historic Designation Study – Indian Heights Park
WHEREAS, Indian Heights Park has been listed on the City Historic Inventory since 2017;
and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Historical Society provides an opportunity for local governments
to apply for grant funds to pay for studies that determine the eligibility of properties to
consider designation on the National Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, the project paid for with grant funds will consider how historic events and site
significance to indigenous Dakota people meet the criteria for listing the property on the
National Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, the same information developed in the study will provide the Community
Development Department to consider the Indian Hights Park property for local historic
landmark designation; and
WHEREAS, such grant application deadline is April 10, 2026
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
MN that a grant application for $20,000.00 to complete a study to determine the National
Register eligibility for Indian Heights Park is hereby approved.
