RESOLUTION
A Resolution Approving Laws of Minnesota 2026, Regular Session, S.F. No. 2511,
Section 9, Authorizing the Issuance of an On-Sale Intoxicating Liquor License to the
Historic Chateau Theater
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature enacted Laws of Minnesota 2026, Regular Session,
S.F. No. 2511, which was signed into law by Governor Tim Walz on April 21, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Section 9 of this legislation authorizes the City of Rochester to issue an on-sale
intoxicating liquor license to the Historic Chateau Theater, located at 15 1st Street
Southwest, Rochester, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the license authorizes the sale of intoxicating liquor on all days of the week to
persons attending performances, exhibitions, or other events at the Historic Chateau
Theater; and
WHEREAS, the legislation provides that the provisions of Minnesota Statutes, Chapter
340A, not inconsistent with the legislation, apply to a license issued under this authority; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 645.021, the legislation becomes
effective only upon approval by the governing body of the City of Rochester and the filing of
a Certificate of Approval with the Minnesota Secretary of State.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, that:
1. The City Council hereby approves Laws of Minnesota 2026, Regular Session, S.F.
No. 2511, Section 9, authorizing the City of Rochester to issue an on-sale intoxicating
liquor license and special Sunday to the Historic Chateau Theater, located at 15 1st
Street Southwest.
2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to file a Certificate of Approval of
this Resolution with the Minnesota Secretary of State, as required by Minnesota
Statutes, Section 645.021, so that the legislation may become effective within the
City of Rochester.
