Minutes of an adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of
Rochester., Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City on February 24,
1965.
President DeVries called the meeting to order at 3:30 o'clock P. M., the following
members being present: President DeVries, Aldermen Day, Eichten, Perry. Absent: Aldermen
Hanlon, McCaleb, Wilson.
The Council members then proceeded to the polling places of the various voting
prinincts of the City to inspect the register counters of the voting machines and to compare
the number of votes shown by such voting machines with the returns submitted by the Judges at thel
Primary Election held on February 23, 1965.
After making a canvass of the votes the Council returned to the City Hall at 4:30
P. M. President DeVries called the meeting to order with the following members being present:
President DeVries, Aldermen Day, Eichten, Perry. Absent: Aldermen Hanlon, McCaleb, Wilson.
Alderman Eichten then introduced the following resolution which was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the following is a tabulated statement of the number of votes cast for each
person at the Primary Election held on the 23rd day of February, A.D. 1965, in the City of
Rochester, as determined by said Common Council on the canvass of the returns of the said
Primary Election made this 24th day of February,.A. D. 1965, and that the said tabulated
statement is hereby declared to show the results of the said Primary Election:

Be it further resolved by the said Common Council:
That W. Wayne Ellison and Charles J. "Chuck" Veeder are hereby declared to be
candidates for the office of Justice of the Peace styled "City Justice of the City of Rochester
Minnesota, at the Charter Election to beheld March 9th, 1965.
That -James R. Wilson and Robert W. Daly are hereby declared to be candidates for
the office of Alderman of Third Ward of the City of Rochester, Minnesota•at the Charter
Election to be held March 9th, 1965.
That the City Clerk of said City is hereby instructed to cause the names of the
said persons •to be printed as candidates for the respective offices upon the official ballots
at the coming Charter Election to be held March 9th, 1965."
A motion was then.made by Day, second by Eichten, that the above resolution be adopted as read
and,all voting in favor thereof, President DeVries declared the said resolution duly passed and
adopted.

The following claims were each read -and upon motion by Perry, second by Day; and all
voting in favor thereof, the same were approved and the Mayor and City Clerk were authrorized and
directed to draw warrants upon the City Treasurer and make payments accordingly:
