Minutes of, a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers on August, 12, 1965.
President DeVries called the meeting to, order at 7:30 P. M. the following members
being present: President DeVries, Alderman Eichten, McCaleb, Perry. Absent: Alderman Day,
Hanlon, Wilson.
The call of the special meeting was read and President DeVries ordered the same
placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of approving the resolut
adopted by the Public Utility Board setting salaries for the utility employees and any other
business the said Common Council may deem proper.
The two following resolutions
adopted by
the Public Utility Board were each read:
"Be it an& it is hereby resolved by the, Public

and is hereby requested to authorize

said Board to
pay the following
amounts of salary for the positions hereinafter
mentioned begninning

The above salaries include"the
assigning of
employees
to shceduled rotating
shifts.
Be it and it 'is hereby further resolved by the said Board that hourly labor, full or
part time, necessary for utility operation be paid at such a rate not to exceed that
adopted by the Common Council, but said labor not to participate in Employees'
Retirement Plan. `
'It is further' resolved and understood that the Public Utility Board has agreed to
pay group hospitalization insurance coverage for the Utility Department Employees."
•"Be it resolved by the Public Utility Board of theCity of Rochester that the
resolution adopted by the Board on August 5, 1965 setting salaries for the
various positions in the Public Utility Department for the year beginning
January 1, 1965, which resolution has been forwarded to the Common Council
for the confirmation and authority to pay said salaries, is hereby amended as
f of laws:
The salary for the position of Executive Secretary is changd to read;

President DeVries then int6oduced the following resolution which was read:.
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester that the resolution
adopted by the Common Council on -July 19, 1965 and approved by the Mayor on July 20, 1965
authorizing the payment of certain -salaries for positions in the Public Utility Department
is hereby rescinded and the amended salaries for the various positions in the Public Utility
Department as fixed -by resolution of the Public Utility Board adopted on August 5, 1965 and
as further amended and fixed by resolution adopted by the Public Utility Board on August 12,
1965, copies of which resolutions adopted on.A.ugust 5th and August 12, 1965 are attached
hereto, marked as exhibits "A" and "B" and made a part of this resolution, are hereby
approved and the Public Utility Board is authorized to pay said salaries effective
January 1, 1965." _
A motion was made by Eichten, second by McCaleb, that the said resolution be adopted as read
and all present voting in favor thereof, President DeVries declared the said resolution duly
passed. and adopted..
Upon motion by Eichten, second by McCaleb, the meeting was
adjourned.
