The special meeting of the Common Council was held in the Council
Chambers at 4:55 P.M.. Members present: President Postier,
Aldermen Allen, Kamper, McNary, Powers. Absent: Aldermen Larson and
Strain.
President Postier read the call of the special meeting which was cal'
to consider the bids for Traffic Signal between llth Avenue and 16th
Avenue S. W. State Aid Project, and any other business the Council
may deem proper.
Powers moved, Kamper second to adopt the state prepared resolution
recommending the Commissioner of Highways to award the contract for
S.P. 159-106-06 Traffic Signals -2nd St. S. W. between llth Avenue
and 16th Avenue S. W. to H. & H Electric, Rochester, Minnesota for
the amount of $88",900.00. Ayes (5), Nays (0). Motion carried.
Powers moved, Allen second to instruct the City Attorney to prepare
a resolution approving the parking rates for the Air Terminal Parkin
as follows: 0-1 hour $.35; Each Additional Hour.$.15; and Maximum
- 24 hours $1.50. Ayes (5), Nays (0). Motion carried.
The request to encroach into the alley behind M.C. Lawlers building
at 219-221 South Broadway was abandoned because the building burned
on July 13, 1975.
A11en moved, Kamper second to instruct the City Attorney to prepare
a resolution to be sent to Mr. James Feeney of the Housing and Re-
development Authority, St. Paul urging him to give Rochester, Minnesc
more housing. We received a total of 90 units, but we are in need of
3,000. Ayes (5), Nays (0). Motion carried.
Powers moved, Kamper second to instruct the City Attorney to prepare
a resolution to the Minnesota Highway Department requesting a further
study of .the intersection at 37th-and Highway 52 North. Ayes (5),
Nays (0). Motion carried.
Allen moved, McNary moved that the meeting be adjourned until 7:30
P.M. July 21, 1975. Ayes (5), Nays (0). Motion carried.
