Abseni: None; Y. The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting being called for the purpose of the considerQtion of the acceptance of the pumping motor recently delivered'to said City'of bcheste*`bar'The Ahrens-Fox,Fire Engine Company, and such other business~as the'saia--Coms,mon,Council might deem proper: The tests made' -with the said engine were discussed and` tie Chief r of the Fire Department, Wm E. Cudmore;''atated that it filled the requirements of the spec- ifications under which ' it ` ii 'purchased: Alderman vvitzke,introduced the following resolution which was read: Whereas,'The Ahrens=Fort Fire Engine Company has delivered to the City of Rochester, Minnesota, oneeertain-Automobile Combined Pumping Engine & Hose Car - Booster equipped in accordance with the -contract between said Company and the City of I Rochester, dated April 9th, 1920; ' And Whereas, the said engine has been duly examined and found to be in accordance with the terms:and-conditions of said contract; Now, Therefore,,Be it and it is hereby resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesotat That the Engine; above described, be and the same is hereby accepted. Be it further resolved by said Common Council: ' That the sum'of`$4156e66 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the Fire Protection Fund of said•"City and ordered paid to The Ahrens -Fox Fire Engine Company.in payment of one,third of the contract price of the engine above described, in accordance with the term of said contracts The Mayor and City Clerk of said City are hereby authorized anddirected to draw�a-warrant upon the City Treasurer for said amount in accordance herewith and cause said paymeflt to b8' made© ' Be it further resolved by said Common Council: That the Mayor and City Clerk of said City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver to said Ahrens -Fox Fire Engine Company, two prom- issory notes of the City'' of Rochester as follows: One for the sorii� of $4166@66 due and payable One year from date; One for the sum,of $4166a68 due and payable two years from date; f= �� Both bearingInterest at the rate of six per cent per annum- from date until •� �; fully paid, -payable annually, and both dated this 22nd day of December A;D. 1920: F; •q` Motion by Schroeder- second by Case that said resolution be adopted as read: �- Roll Call: Ayes: Case, Schroeder, Rommel, Miner, O1son,Witzke: Nays: None. Committee on the -promotion of an out -door skating -rink, was before the Common Council with the request that the said City furnish, -men and: teams_ to,_scrape the snow off the ice at the rink which is now under, construction., and stated that it might be necessary, later on,� to call on said City for water sufficient to flood the said rink and for equipment with which to light iti r Motion by Miner second by .Rommel carried that this matter be referred to the Street and Alley Committee, the City Engineer and the Chief of the Fire Department, and that.they report at the_skating.rink at 7:30 o'clock A:Mi on December 23rd, 1920: Motion by..Miner,second by Rommel carried that the said Committee be given power to act in the matter and that.they•be authorized to expend not..to exceed $199900,_from the General Fund of said City. ,Motion.by Rommel second by Olson carried that the City Attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance providing for a,Chief and sixteen t Z firemen in the Fire Department of said City instead of the present Chief and fifteen firemen:; Motion by Rommel second by Miner carried that, the, Chief . of the Fire Department be authorized. to employ. an extra:. fireman for the period from date to January,15, 1921: Motion by Miner second by,Rommel carried that the City Engineer be authorized to purchase a new pay -roll record -book for use in his Depart- ment+o Alderman Case introduced the following: resolution ,whioh ,was read: Be it resolved by the Common Council of -the City.of Rochester: That the sum of.$1000:00 be and the.said sum is hereby appropri- ated from the Street and Alley Fund, of� said City, for use of, the Street and.
