' Sunshine Club for Woodman Hall, September 14th and 28th, 1926. 4 ` The matter of fees for public dance permits was discussed and on motion by BQch'second by Hicks it was ordered that the future fee for all, dance permits shall. he 15.00 each, � The application of the Rochester Amusement Club for a permit to L place and maintain a si:^,r on the property known as 213 First Avenue South- west,was read and on motionby Postier second by Hicks permit was granted. Larkin. inquired If the Iss016tion Hospital grounds were for s a%le, a,ncl after an informal expression from each member of the Common Council he waa Informed that they ..are' net for sale, � Julius J. Reiter stated to the Common Council that he holds an option on the Oronocc hill property "d floula'Ce• rights until May 15�h, 1927, which was given that the purchase price shall be 122,000,00 for the 230 acres concerned, which includes the approximate 130 acees over -.flowed, which was given conditioned that }:-he Cite of Rochester, Minnesota shall developenas a wA ter power and retain all shore rights, and. that in so far as 'the Public Utility Poard has not seen fit to act on the copy of •the'option left with them for their consideration he would like to have the Common Council look into his plan. He informed -L.hat as no public Utility Board-actionhas been taken on the project, a consulting engineer, to be paid by him with the expecta- tion of reimbursement, has been employed to make anreport on the cost of a Hydro -Electric plant aq� with five feet more head than the old dam; survey � made by another consulting en i.neer in 1920 in his estimate that a the investment be around 1§70,000.00. Mr. Reiter was told that properly this should come before the Common Council as a. request fromthe Public Utility Board for authority to make an appropriation forthe preliminary investigation. W Schruth for paving repairs on Second Street Southwest was considered by the Common Council and on motion by Postier second by Hicks the City Attorney was instructed to request of the Surety Bond Com- pany covering this improvement that they forth:,rith reimburse the City.of Rochester, Minnesote.,for this expenditure. The application of R. E. Postier for appointment as operator of Sewage Disposal Plant) was read and President Weeks ordered that the same be places] on f ile . The application of Don E. Postier, Building and Electrical Inspector, for a vacation of one week cormencing September 17th, 1��?6, was read and on motion by Bach'second by Adler the vacation reQuested was grantedo A circular letter sent out by the Rochester Oil Company to former patrons of Meredith & Metzerott,,informing them that on September lot the said Oil Compz,,.ny took over the operation of the Meredith F__ Metzerott gasoline service and - continuance of their patronage, was read and it was discussed as to the necessity for the Rochester Oil Company getting a new permit for these pumps,all agreeinr;that such should be done,after which President Weeks ordered that the acid corimiunication be placed on file* On motion by Bach second by Schroeder the sum of '140,00 was appropri- ated frralthe Street and Alley fund and ordered paid to Mrs. Catherine Fritsch as compensation for the death of G�-si Fritsch, during the pe%dod .Aug -us+. 13th to Au;;us 26th, 1926, inclusive.,, The resignation of Peter T. Alderman Bach introduced the Following resolution, which was read:. "WHEREAS, the City of Rochester, Minnesota, heretofore entered into � contracts for the construction and making of the following ,described local public improvements, insai.d City, the cost and expense of which said public improvements shall be paid for by special assessments levied in the manner provided by law, to -wit: , 'That the paving of lfhird Street Southeast from the East line of Broadway Street South to the Mill of the Rochester Milling Company be widened to the width of fifty (50) feet by the paving with 6" one course concrete of a strip 5 ft. in width along each side of the, present paving on the said part of Third Street Southeast, and that a cement concrete curb be constructed along; both sides of the pa.vi_ngso widened a'nd that the intersecting streets be paved and curbed to the curb line; That the paving of Third street Southwest from the West line of First Avenue Southwest to the East line of Third Avenue Southwest be widened by the paving•with 6" one course concrete of a strip ll� ft. in width alor_F; each side of the present paving on the said part of Third Street Southwest, and that a cement concrete curb be constructed along each side of the paving. so widened, which said strip shall ;incline upword from the present gutter line to the curb, and that the intersecting avenues be paved and curbed to the curb line; That the paving; of First, Avenue Southwest from the center line of Fourth Street Southwest to 171 ft. North of the South line of Fifth , Street Southwest be widened to a. width of seventy (70) feet by the paving with G" one course concrete of a strip 15ft, in width along each side of the present pavement on the said part of First Avenue Southwest, and that a 4" integral curb be constructed at such places as is desired by owners of abiAtting property; e. West ' of the center line of Fifth Avenue Southwest and 1^ ft. North of the South line of Center Street West: The construction of a sanitary sewer commencing at the center of the intersection of Eighth Street Southeast and Fourth Avenue Southeast and running; Southerly along' the center fine of Fourth Avenue Southeast to the center of the intersection of Tenth Street Southeast ' and Fourth Avenue Southeast;,. The construction of a sanitary sewer commencing at a point ten(10) feet East of the intersection of the West line of Fifteenth Avenue South- east with the centerline of First Street Southeast and rtimning Sesterly along the center line of First Street Southeast to the center of the intersection of Thirteenth Avenue Southeast and First Street.Southeast : 1 and thence.
