October llth, 19260 Honorable Common Council of the City of Roehester,..Minnesota. Gentlemen: It having been brought to my attention that the gravel loading equipment at the gravel pit of the city has been destroyed by fire and that it would take considerable time to provide for the purchase of new equipment to replace the same, which would seriously handicap the department of the City Engineer, I hereby declare the existence of an emergency and authorize the City Engineer and the Purchasing Committee of the City of Rochester to purchase new gravel loading equipment forthwith on the open market, without the formality of advertising for bids. On motion by Postier second by Adler the`eity Engineer and Purchasing committee were authorized and directed to purchase new gravel pit loading equip- ' t ment in the open market under and by the above quoted emergency authorization. On motion by Postie(r second by Hicks •the City Clerk was authorized and directed to strike off `from the records' the value of the old gravel pit loading equipment on account of the same having been destroyed by fire on October Sth, 1926, On motion'by Adler second by Hicks the Chair was requested to appoint a co_-mittee -to look after ;the f rniahing of insurance on the local Sewage Disposal Plant,with instructions to the said Committee that they make report at the next meeting of this Common Council, and accordingly President Weeks appointed Aldermdar, Schroeder, Iiicks and Kitzman, and the City Attoiney as members of the said Committee. "Whereas, the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, deem it expedient and necessary thRt certain improvements and addit- ions be made at, the Sewage Disposal Plant of said City of Rochester;. \ Therefore, be it resolved by said Common Council: That the City Engineer and the Sewer Committee are hereby authorized and directed to purchase necessary materials and employ sufficient labor to make additions and improvements, not exceeding the sum of Five hundred ($500.00).Dollars in value."
