On motion by Schroede4second by titzman the minutes of the meeting held on October 4th, 1926, were approved. Pablic hearing was held on the proposed re -surfacing of the raving base on Fourth Street Southeast, between the East line of Droadway Street South and the East line of Third Ave ._sue Southeast, with 24,2' " or 3" vertical fibre cut vitrifiu.d clay or shale, non -repressed and uspeeially burned for street pav- ing, brick, to a width of forty (40)'feet,and the necessary repairs to the cem6nt concrete curb nov in place on the said part of ii'ourth Street Southeast. The following remonstrance signed by many of the residents and property ovrners abutting on.the above mentioned proposed improvement, was read and President Weeks ordered that the .game be placed on file : "To the Common Council of the City of 'Rochester: We the undersigned owners of property :o he affected by the proposed improvement of Fourth Street Southeast, most resp,.;ctfully rez_uest,that you do not order it re -paved with brick Apt the expense of the abutting property„ Dated October 8th, 1926." On motion by Postier sec,:md by Tucks, further action and hearing on the above described local public improvement was adjourned and continued to the first regular meeting of this Common Council in December, 1926. Re W. Chadwick and Dr. A. H. Sanford, as members of the Board of Educa- tion of School District No 8, and G. H. Sanberg, Superintendent of Schools, were before the Common ,Council and explained the need for the approval by the Common T C ounc it of the Board of Education's 1926 tax levy. Alderman Bach introduced the following resolution, which was read: "Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnes ota That said Common Council does herebX assent to and approve the levy of taxes to the amount of Three hundred*�Thousan wenty three eight hundred twenty- four Dollars ($323624.00) for general school purposes, made by the Board of Edu- cation of School District No. S. in said City, on the 5th day of Dotober, 1926, on the taxable property in said School District No. Be" Upon motion by Bach second by Hicks that the said resolution be adopted ad read -and all voting in favor thereof, President.Weeks declared the said resolu- 4 tion duly passed and adopted. M, Gsaen, for Compan C. 205th Infantry Minnesota National Guard, that the Common Council attend the fifth annual banquet of Company C at the Itotel Carlton Cafe, the evening of 17th, 1926, at 8:30 o'clock P. >I.�was read and on motion by Bach second by hicks it was accepted and the City Clerk was instructed to advise Captain Gratin aecordi_n.gly and say that the Common Council will attend in a body. The following copy of resolution passed and adopted by the Sinking Fund Co:;mission,was read and on motion by Schroeder second l:y Postier, the action set forth therein was approved and it was ordered that the said copy of resolution be placed on file: "Be it resolved by the Caram*issioners of the Sinking Fund, of the City of Roahester,• Minnesota: . hat the sum of "5306.92 be appropriated from the Sinking Fund of 'said City and paid to Lane, Piper 7;. Alderman Hicks introduced an ordinance providing for the connection of Outlot ll-to the Northern Addition to the City of Rochester, Olmsted Country, Minne- sota, with the trunk line sanitary sewer in part of Broadway Street North, which was given its first reading. Upon motion by Adler seccmd by Bach the rules were suspended and the said ordinance was given its second reading. Upon motion by Bach second by .Adler the rule:: were suspended and the said ordinance was given its third and final reading. Upon motion by Hicks second by Bach that the said ordinance be adopted as read and all voting in favor thereof, President Week: declared the said ordinance duly passed and adopted,. 'Upon motion by Hicks secondbby Bach the City Clerk was instructed to discontinue the official publication of the minutes of the meetings of this C oiwton Council effective October 1st, 1926. 270 Aldermen Schroeder introduced the following resolution, which was read; "WHFR t,AS, There has accumulated aesurplus inthe budget division of the General Fund of said City, for the purchase of supplies for the custo- dian of the City Hall, office supplies, laundry,.additional equipment, etc., and, WHLFIi,'Ar, It is,deemed advisable that the sum of $3500.00 be trans- ferred within the,General Fund of said City, and spread from the said budget division as a credit to.the following budget divisions, in the amounts specified; and WHY�1.1EA.S, There.has accumulated a surplus in the budget division of the General Fund of said City, which is a revolving fund through which the sprinkling costs disbursements and the sprinkling assessment receipts are carried, and Whereas, It is deemed advisable that the sum of ��,6000.0.0 be trans- ferred within the General Fund of said City and spread from the said budget division: as a credit, to the following budget divisions, in the ' amounts specified;' So.
