Minutes of a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of
Ebehester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Mall, in said
pity, on November 1st, 1926,'at 2 o'clock.P. M.
Meeting called to order by President Weeks.
,Roll Call: Present: Weeks, Adler, Bach, Hicks, Kitzman, Postier,
Schroeder; absent: None.,
A communication from the Executive Secretary of the League of
..innesota tunic palities, asking for representation of this City at the State—
wide conference to consider the subject of"Highway Traffic and Safety; which
is called by the Governor for November loth and 20th, 19262 at the State Capitol,
St. Paul, Minnesota, wai._:read, and President Weeks ordered that the same be placed
on file .
The selection of -a delegation to this conference was considered but no
official action thereon was taken, as it was decided to await the formal call of
the Go-,,ernov for. this meeting.
President Weeks dt this time excused AYderman Kitzman who left the
Council Chambers,. ,
A communiestion and billing from the Executive Secretary of the League
of '�.4innesota " unicipalities, asking for attention to the payrr_•ent of the City of
Rochester, Ifinne Iota. assessment for the Legislative Reference Information Service,

which the League will give out during the coming session 'of` the legit!lature, in
accordance with resolution number 12,, passed 44-the League dri"q_tto� a.t Virginia,
Minnesota) in June, 1926, was read, and on motion by Postier second by Hicks the
sum of .�5.00 was eippropriated from the General Fund and it was ordered -that the
same be p.a.id to'the League of Minnesota Municipalities for the purpose above men-

Four applications of the Town Taxies Company, Inc., for license to oper-
ate four hertz Sedan Automobiles in taxi cab ser Ice within said City,were each
separately reaA and motion by Adler second by Bach carried that licensebe granted
and that the same be- issued as soon as they comply with the local ordinance pro-
visions. '
A communication from the Modern Woodmen of America asking for a trans -
for of their public dance permit heAtofore issued to them for October 30th, 1926,
at the ''Koodm�Ln Hall, to November 6th, 1926, at the same Nall, was read and on motion
by Schroeder second by Postier, transfer was granted. -
The following copy of resolution was read and President Weeks ordered
that the same be placed on file:

topher F. Fritsch from October 1st, to October 28th, 19213) inclusive.

Board that the Kon.Common Council be and is hereby requested
to authorize the said Doard to increase the salary of Ruth
Weeks from the rate of $1560per-year � as premiously authorized

Upon motion by Adler second by Bach that the said resolution be adopted
as read and all voting in favor thereof, President Weeks declared the said resolution
duly passed and adopted.,
Alderman Hicks introduced a resolution appropriating 71814.32:'. from the
Permanent Improvement Revolving Fund and ordering payment made to Wm. C. Fraser and
Son for final estimate on contract for the construction of the sanitary sewer in
Seventh Street 1,, ortbaest, from the center of Sixth Avenue Northwest to 792 feet
East or the East line of Eleventh Avenue Northwest, which was read.
Upon motion by Nicks second by Bach that the said resolution be adopted
as read and all voting in favor thereof, President Weeks declared the said resolution
duly passed and -adopted.
Alderman Adler introduced a resolution appropriating 0673.86 from the

C o;upany, Incorporated for final estimate on contract for grading Fifteenth Avenue
Southwest, a1,iich :°ras read.
Upon iiiotion by Adler second by Bach that the said resolution be adopted
as read - nd all voting in favor thereof, President Weeks declared the said resolution
duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Postier introduced a resolution appropriating '12000.00 from the
Street and Alley Fund for usd of the Street and Alley Committee, Which was read,
Upon motion by Bach second by A.Aler that the said resolution be adopted
as read and all voting in favor thereof, President VJeeks declared the said resolu-

Alderman Hicks introduced the following; resolution which was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,

That the Public Utility Board of said City be and the said Board is
hereby authorized to appropriate 1;217_,82 from the Public Utility Fund to the Sink-
ing Fund of said City for retirement of Electric Light Bonds, the sarue to be investec
in �,>2000.00 City of Rochester, -;lin esota, Electric Light Bondsto be purchased from

Lane, riper and Taffra,y; Incorporated, at :2000.00 for principal926." 137.46 premium and

Upon motion by Hicks -second by.Bach that the said resolution be adoptdd
as read and all ,oting in favor thereof, President Weeks declared the said resolu-
tion duly passed and adopted*
Alderman Hicks introduced the following resolution, which was read:
"Be It re,_ olved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesott
That the 'sum of $316.4-0 be appropriated and paid to the Pyrajhid Oil Com-
parry for t
asoline and oil furnished during September, 1926, �"83.02 thereof to be froi
the General Fund and `1233,47 to be from the Street and Alley Fund.
The Mayor and City Clerk of said City are hereby authorized and directed
to draw a 'warrant upon the City Tre4surer.and.make payment aceoxdingly.

Upon motion bir Schroeder.second by -Adler, that the said resolution
be adopted as read and all voting in favor thereof, President Weeks de-
clared the said resolution duly passed and adopted..
Alderman Kitzman came in at this time and again took his Chair.
• The recommendations of the Lighting Committee th �.-tJ the following
street lights be installed was read and President Weeks ordered that

the same be placed on file: Alt Fourth Avenue Southeast and Tenth Street
Southeast, one at Fourth Avenue Southeast and Ninth Street Southeast, one
on EiRh.th Avenue Southeast midway between Center Street East and First
Street Southeast, one in the alley back of the Damon Hotel midway be-
tween Center Street West and First Street Southwest; one at Pifth Avenue
Northwest and Third --'s treet Northwest,
Upon motion by Schroeder second by Postier, the City Clerk was
instructed to request of the Public ttility Board that they install the
above mentioned street lights. '
The following Committee report was read, and President Weeks ordered
that the same be placed on file:

The following claims were read and on motion by Kitzman second
by Hicks the same were allowed and the idayor and City Clerk were author-

TTpon motion by Postier second by Hicks the City Engineer was instructed
to take up with the Minnesota Highway Department the matter of _making Eleventh
Avenue Northwest and Southwest an arterial highway;
Upon motion by Schroeder second by Postier the City Engineer was
instructed to confer with the Board of Education of School District No. 8 relative
to the replacement,in accordance with specifications,of the paving on First
Street Southwest, :which was removed for the construction of the tunnel betwen
the High School and the new Central School•Building.
Upon motion by Postier second by Adler the City Engineer was instructed
to get im touch -with various pump manufacturers relative to the furnishing of a
purup and elevator for the pourer handling of sludge (screenings) from the Doer scree ,
or fine screen, to the digestion chamber at the local sewage disposal plant.
Upon_•motion by dicks second by Schroeder -the City Engineer was instruc-
ted to secure the necessary labor and materials, etc., and construct a,fence
between the property of Julius Sonnenberg and the local Sewage Disposal Plant.
Upon motion by Bach second by Adler.Council adjourned to November Sth,
