Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City,
on February 14th,19339 at 10:00 o'clock A. M.
Meeting called to order by President Liddle.
Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Hicks, Miller, Moody,
Norton, Absent: Dallman.
The : call for the special meeting was read; said meeting having
been called for the purpose of appointment of a County Commissioner for the First
District of Olmsted County, and any other business that the said Common Council mig:
deem proper.
The following copy of communication was read, and upon motion by
Ricks, second by Moody, it was ordered that the same be placed on file:

Dear Mr. Liddle:
A vacancy exists on the County Board caused by the resig-
nation of Mr. E. H. Vine, as Commissioner from the First District, and
under the statutes the vacancy is to be filled by the Common Council.
Will you t'tierefore arrange to take care of this matter at
your convenience.

The City Attorney called the attention of the Common Council to
fact that/appointment shall be only for the period ending on tho first Monday in
January, 1935.
There being no written applications for appointment to this
vacancy, President Liddled called on those present for oral applications, and J. J.
Au_pperle,Wm. Gordy, and H. F. Vihstadt, made oral applications for appointment as
County Commissioner of the First District,
Upon motion by Miller, second by Norton, 3,ecess , was taken
for considerat ion:. of applications and after a decision as to who should receive the
appointment, the Common Council returned to the Council Chambersi and were again called
to order by President Liddle; Alderman Dallman'having joined the Common Council in itis i
executive session and returned to the Council Chambers with the other members.
A motion by Norton, second by Hicks, that John F. Cooke, be
appointed Commissioner for the First District during the period from this date to the
first Monday in January,1935, carried by all voting in favor thereof, and President
Liddle declared him duly appointed to the office mentioned for the period stated.

Upon motion by Ricks, second by Norton, the City
Engineer was authorized and directed to secure the necessary latFor and
materials and install the recently purchased gasoline pump and
tank near the City scaleAe
11 Upon motion by Hicks, second by Moody, it was ordered
that overhead be charged on gasoline distributed from the above
mentioned equipment, to absorb the cost of the gasoline pump, gasoline
tank, installation and accounting forms, which overhead shall be one
cent plus the fraction required to make the next even cent over the
contract price for the month in th.ich the gasoline is furnished; i.e.
on the February 1933 contract price of �,.09H25, I°Qol75 :would be rlded
-to ^i9ke the equal cent and then one cent more on the contract price, or
plus $.01175 totaling 1.11.
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Amundsen, the City Clerk
was instructed to draw proceedings for the issuance of $3000.00 certificates
of indebtedness to return the $3,000„00 loanAd by the Public Utility
Board to the General Fund, i.e., the $19000.00 recettly appropriated and
made
the $2,000.00 appropriation which is expected to beat the Public Utility
Board meeting scheduled for this evening:
Upon motion by Norton, second by Dallman, the Common
Council adjourned.
