HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-27-1933a Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Cluneil Chambers, in the City Nall, in said City, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., on March 27th,1933. Meeting called to order by President Twiddle. Roll Call. Present: Diddle, Amundsen, Dallmnn, Hicks) Miller,Moody, Norton. Absent: None. The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting being called for action on ordinance necess2ry for licensing of sale Of non -intoxicating liquor, andany other business that the said Coi:zmon Council might deem proper. A copy of Senate File No.880, being a bill for an act relating; to the sale of non-int,oyiesting malt liquors, was reo.d, and explained by the City Attorney, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file. The official bond of Frank E. Roth, as Justice of . the Peace, styled "City Justice", for one year (unexpired term) , with the AetrnA Casualty & Surety Com- any as surety thereon in the amount of Q0000.00, was read, and upon motion by Hicks, second by Amundsen, the said surety was accepted, the said bond was approved, and it was ordered that the same be placed on file. The claim of Saint Mary's hospital, 513 r.50, for the isolation of Ruth Ann Heimstra, 1133 Eighth Avenue Southeast, December 19th.,1932, to February 12th,1933, 55 days at 02,50, per day, diagnosed to be sufferinq from erysipelas, was read, and upon motion by Norton, second by Miller, an appropriation of Q37.50 was made from the Public Health division of the General Fund for payment to the sewage disposal plant operation budget division of the Sewer Fund, and for credit to apply on the account against Saint Mary's hospital for share in operation of Sewage Disposal Plaint, and that the City Clerk bill the County of Olmsted for one-half of these charges, awounting to a credit of Saint, Mary's Hospital bill to apply on their account for sewage disposal plopt operation. copy of a, bill for an act authorizing recreating activi- ties, perwittin-;; the expenditure of money therefor, and permitting the acquisition and purchasing of property therefor, forwarded by Senator AVE" " Richardson, was read, and after a discussion of its provisions, motion r= by Moody, second by :^iorton,carried, instructing the. Upon motion by Hicks, second by Amundsen, that the said ordinance be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, rresidentt T,j.ddle declared the said ordinance as duly passed and adopted. Alderman Amundsen introduced Rn ordinance repulat ink; the licensing and sale of non intoxicating malt liquor, prohil"iting the sale thereof,at-retail except in licensed places and to any person under the age of twenty-one years of a,ge, and repealing all ordinances dr._parts of.: ordinances inconsistent herewith, which we,s given its first reading. 11 Upon, motion, by Miller, second by.Amundsen, the rules were suspended nand the said ordin,-.nce was given its second reading;. Upon motion by Dallma.n, second by Amundsen, the rules were suspended and. the said ordinance was, given its third and final reading,. Upon motion by Moody, second by Norton, that the said ordinance be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Lidd:le declared the said ordinance duly passed and adopted.
