HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-13-1933572 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., on September 13th,1933. Meeting called to order by President Liddle. Roll Call* Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Dallman, Miller, Moody, Norton, Absent: Hicks. The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting being called f9r the purpose of decision on trunk line sewer bids and to issue instructions to those who ere; t appear before the State Advisory Board the afternoon of September 14th91933, and any other business that the said Common Council might deem proper: The bids of C.G.Fraser and L.M.Feller, for the construction of a trunk line sanitary sewer in Broadway Street South from Fourth Street to Sixth Street, and the laying of lateral connections in the said part of Broadway Street South, were discussed, as to whether the bid made under the City scale or the bid made under the N.I.R.A. scale should be accepted, as to whether the said bids should be rejected and the City Engineer instructed to securethe necessary labor and materials and matte the said improvements under City Force Account with City scale for labor, whether to reject the bids and ask for authority to use day labor under the application to N.R.A. for a 30 percent grant, or whether to reject all bids and readvertize for proposals for the construction of the projects named, but no decision was reached either on that or the instructions to those who with to go before the State Advisory Board the afternoon of September 14th,19339 except that the Common Council made informal expression that the application for a 30 percent grant should be allowed to proceed without injecting the questions above set forth, even to the :extent bf not advising the State Board of the fact that bids have been received and opened at this time.
