Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council
Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, at 7: 30 o'clock P:M. , on

The following appointment was read, and upon motion
by Moody, second by Amundsen, the same was approved:

Upon motion by Dallman, second by Moody, the
minutes of the meetings held on November 6th,1933, November 16th,19331
and November 22nd,19331 were each approved.
The report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for
the week ending November 6th919339 showing criminal fines collected $70 00,
civil fees received $6 351, conciliation court fees $7.009 court costs charged
to Olmsted County $2490; for the week ending November 13th,1933, showing
criminal fines collected $86�40, sivil fees received $6A00 conciliation
court fees $1.25; and for the week ending November 20th,19339 showing
criminal fines collected $70 00, civil fees received $2 25, Conciliation
court fees $4 50, court costs charged to Olmsted County $269309 were each
read, and President Liddle referred the same to the City Attorney.
The report of the Health Officer, for the City Farm
for the month of October,19339 showing receipts in the amount of $8214r999
disbursements 06010-02, and a balance on hand of $433:81, and showing 35 hogs
sold during October, and 44 hogs died during October,19339 leaving 344 hogs
on hand November lst,1933, was read, and upon motion by Hicks, second by
Dallman, the report was referred to the Public Grounds Committee and the
City Attorney; they to take the matter of the deaths of hogs up with the
State Live Stock and Sanitary Board and with the deller of the pigs
General balance sheet, trial balance, Fund statement,
statement of unexpended budget appropriations, etc., of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, for the month of October,19339 prepared by the City Clerk, were

laid before the Common Council, and President Liddle ordered that the same be
placed on file.
The City Engineer's trial balance of disbursements in his
department during October919339 was laid before the Common Council, and President
Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file:

The Board of Directors of the Rochester Automobile Club,

at a meeting today, discussed the traffic hazard existing at the
intersections of highways No.7 and No.20 both East and West of
Rochester and also the intersection of highway No:59 with the belt
line South of Rochester.
The discussion was occasioned by the accident which
occurred Saturday evening when one person was killed. We have
written to the Highway Department asking them to install automatic
stop and go signals at these places.. We would like to have your

honorable body also write to the Highway Department requesting that
these signs be installed.+ The Automobile Club would like to have

the City furnish the electricity necessary for the operation of
these signs, if the Highway Department does install theme -

The Highway Committee of the Rochester Chamber of
Commerce at a meeting held today discussed the traffic hazards
existing at the intersections of Highways No:7 and 20' both
East and West of Rochester and at the intersection of Highway
No,59 P,nd the Belt Line South of the city.
Our committee concurs in the action of the Rochester
Automobile Club, and wishes to support the requests of that organi-
zation to your Honorable body. We would lilee to have the city offer
to furnish the necessary electricity to operate stop and go signals

A Copy of a resolution passed and adopted by the
Common Counc it of the Ci t4y of Buffalo , New Yo rk , -urging-. t4e President , the
Congress and the governments of the world to extend their supreme efforts
to bring about lasting peace and good will amongst men, was read, and upon
motion by Hicks, second by Moody, it was ordered that a similar resolution
be prepared and adopted by this Common Council; a copy thereof to be sent
to the President of the United States.

appropriated from the Street and Alley Fund (Code 3) , of said City and ordered
paid to Wm. H: Ziegler Co:, Inc., of Minneapolis$ Minnesota, for balance due on
contract for furnishing and installation of a gravel screening and crushing plant;
$1542-027, plus interest thereon October 3rd919329 to December lst,19339 at 5%
$89.75. '
The Mayor and City Clerkaare hereby authorized and directed

Alderman Norton introduced the following resolut ion,which was

ated frofn the General F'und(Code'8) of said City and ordered paid to L.A.Kepp
Contracting Company,' for Estimate No.2 on contract for extension of Police signal

In compliance with your instructions of Nov. 22, to prepare plans
and specifications for trunk linesewer in the City of Rochester, I herewith
submit for your consideration a routing of the sewer under consideration..
You will please note a change in the route, as compared with the
original plan. This change is called for. on account of the Minnesota Highway
Dept. having paved South Broadway to a width of forty (40) ft. The paving
will make it advisable to -construct the trunk sewer twenty-seven and one-half
(27-�j fto east of the center line of Broadway St. South, from 4th Street to
6th Street, whereas, the original plan was that it be constructed ten (10) ft,
east of the aforesaid center line.

Alderman Dallman introduced a resolution appropriating

Alderman Dallman introduced a resolution appropriating
$42.36 from the General Fund and ordering payment made to the Perm.f,nent
Improvement Revolving Fund, for the said Revolving Fund's share in tax

Alderman Dallman introduced a resolution appropriating.
$377.02 from the Street and Alley Fund and ordering payment made to C. Co
j Pagenhart, for labor, materials, etc., used in connection with sidewalk,
II paving and curb repairs in accordance with sworn billing made November 25th,
1933; $2147 thereof being chargeable to Job 418, $10.06 thereof being charge-
able to Job 393, and $345:89 being chargeable to Job 5739 which was read.
Upon motion by Dallman, second by Amundsen, that the said
resolution be .adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted;
Aldermen Miller introduced thefollowing resolution, which
was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,,
Minnesota:
That the sum of 02810-16 be appropriated from the Bridge Fund,
Code 29 and paid'to the owners of notes heretofore issued to L.M.Feller, toward the
cost of the construction of a bridge over Bear Creek on Fourth Street Southeast,
which is the interest due December lst919339 on the said notes;
$70.29 thereof being for interest on $2811 66 note maturing July 1,1934;
$70.29 thereof being for interest on $2811:66 note maturing Dec. 1,1934;
$64.93 thereof being for interest on $2597:21 note maturing July. 1,1935;

$1401.74 thereof being principal on the said note and $350-05 thereof being for

numbers 15 to 20 inclusive, 37 to 48 inclusive, 69 to 80 inclusive, and 81
to 88 inclusivei which was read.
Upon motion by Miller, second by Amundsen, that,the
said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, Presi-

Alderman Norton introduced a resolution appropriating
$4078.50 from' the Lighting Fund and ordering payment
made to
the
City of
Rochester, Light ,Department , for lighting of public
streets
and
grounds, in
accordance with Oct. 25th,1933, billings, which was read.
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Amundsen, that the
said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, Presi-
dent Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Moody introduced a resolution appropriating
$8,0000'00 from the Permanent Improvement Revolving Find and ordering payment
11 made to the First National Bank of Rochester, Minnesota, for the December 1st,
1933, maturity of City of. Rochester, Minnesota, 44?j, Permanent Improvement
Revolving Fund bonds numbers 159 169 37, 389 39, e9, 70, 81, and 829, which
was read.
Upon motion by Dallman, second by Moody, that the
said resolution be adopted as read, and all 'voting in favor thereof, Presi-
dent Liddle declared the said resolution, duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution apprkpriatirg
$372*33 from the Par ''k Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to the
City of Rochester, Water Department, for water furnished at public parks
during the season of 19339 which was read.
Upon motion by Millers - second by ?licks, that the
said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, Presi-
dent Liddle declared the suid resolution duly passed and adopted.

ing $562.34 from the Sewer Fund and ordering payment made to the City of
Rochester, Light Department for power furnished at the Sewage Disposal Plant

Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution granting public dance

Alderman Moody introduced the following resolution, which was

"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Ro chest er,
Minnesota,:
That the Public Utility Board of said City be and the said
Board is hereby authorized to expend not to exceed $499.00 for lighting of public
streets in connection with Christmas decorations and during; December,19339 it
being hereby agreed and understood that the said sum, which is not to exceed
$499.00, will be added to the included with the 1934 budget for lighting of public
streets and grounds."
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Amundsen, that the said
resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution,which
was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota:
That the Board of Park Commissioners of said City be and
the said Board is hereby authorized and directed to enter into contract with
the Botsford Lumber Company of Rochester, Minneso-ta, for the construction of an
animal fence at Mayo Field, in accordance with the plans for same which are on
file with the said Board, at a toted cost of $3373.00.
The amount of the surety bond to be given by the said contractor
is hereby fixed at the sum of $33730--00."
Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Miller, that the said
resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor t hereof , except Alderman
Norton,who voted "Nay", President Liddle declared the said resolution . duly nw:;scd
and adopted.
President Liddle referred the matter of street lights on
Sixth Street Southwest between Tenth Avenue and Fourteenth Avenue Southwest, and
on Center Street Fast, to the Lighting Committee.
The matter of suitable driveway facilities at the Walter Ewald
pr.ope,rty on Fourteenth Street Northeast was referred,by President Liddle, to the
Street and Alley Committee and the City Engineer, for investigation and report
thereon at the next meeting of this Common Council.
