P 1` 36 Wnlites " an adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester", Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City on May 189 1936. The meeting was -called to order by President Liddle at 7: 30 o'clock P. r,R: , the following manbers being present: Lid.dle, h nndsen, Pryer; Green, Lemo-on, Moody and Rachman. Absent: None. On motion by Moody second by Richman, the minutes of the meeting held on May 119 19369 were approved. President Liddle announced this as beinn the time and place fixed for hearing or. the construction of Sanitary Srwer in Fifth Avenue Southeast, from Twelfth Street Southeast to Thirteenth Street Southeast, and asked.if there were any person present who wished to be heard concerning; this improvement. There was no person ?resent who wished to be heard concerning the construction of sanitary sewer, in Fifth Avenue Southeast, as above described. �I Alderman Richman introduced a resolution ordering that a sanitary sewer be constructed .in Fifth Avenue Southeast b,et'witz Twelfth t revt Southi"t ,and Thirteentk Sheet Southeast, ordering that the cost and expexse thereof be ;piai i igcspecial' assessment levied as providedby law; 'and ordering that plans, jprofilea ,specificatioas and estimate of cost be prepared by the City Engineer 1;,thlab k+, ar, `r b,ad . An appointment of Charles H. Armstrong, as Advisory Engineer, presented Iby Arleigh CO--Snith, City Migineer, was read, and on motion by Green second by Amundsno said appointment was approved: , The official bond of Charles H Armstrong as Advisory Dngineery, with th Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York, as surety thereon, in the amount of %1500:Od, was read, and on motion by Green second by hnundsen, the surety thereon was accepted, the said bond was. approved; and it was ordered that the sauce be placed on file. An appointment by W. A. Moore, Mayor, of John Ploof, as Special Policeme. l for duty in all paxks of the City of Rochester; he to serve without pay, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file: On motion by Fryer second by Amundsen, Si O. �hevold was appointed to the Firdmen's Civil Service Commission for a term of three kears On motion by L emmon second by Amundsen, C: E: Ginther was appointed Fire Warden for a term of one year without pay. The official bond of Soren Olson as assistant to the City Engineer, with the Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York, as surety thereon, in the amount of 3500.005 was read, and on motion by Green second by Richman, the surety thereon was accepted, the said bond was approved, and it was ordered that the same be placed on file: The report of the Northern Natural Gas Company on gas tests taken at Sioux City, Iowa, showing an average BTU of 1008 for the week ending May 139 1936, was read: The City Clerk reported the receipt of $1114,88 from the Franklin;.Heatin i cent per M on Station &3/ 229376,000 dot. of natural gas used there during April 1936: A request from Peter S. Mackey, Secretary of the Fire Department Relief Association for the app roval of a $2500:00 loan to Frank W. Everett on his home , located at $15 Eighth Avenue Southeast, was read;, and President Liddle referred the matter to the Finance Committ ee 4 I , The City Treasurer's report for the month of April, 193C, showing a balance on hand of $387,497.91 was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file: it 00 The reports of the Clerk, of Municipal Court for the week ending May 119 19361 showing criminal fines collected $1190-,40; civil fees received $8aSO, conciliation court fees received $3400, court costs charged to Olmsted 18 County $7.00.; and for the week ending May, %1936, showing criminal fines col- lected $25700; civil fees received $9:70; conciliation court fees received $1 00, were each read; and President Liddle referred the sane to the - City Attorney: The report of the Health Officer for the City Farm for the month of April, 1936; showing receipts fo $2,102�50$ .disbursements of $1830:119 and a balance on, hand of 012604-F64; and his statement of hogs showing 199 on hand April 1, 1936; 80 bought, 69 -sold, and four died, leaving 206 on hand w s read May 1st, 1936,%and President Liddle referred the same to the Finance Committee. A requett" by Julius Peters, for a permit to move a double garage to 710 Eleventh Avenue Northeast, was read, and President Liddle referred the matter to the Building, Inspector and the Public Utility Board: The application of William W. Green for a Plumber's License was read, end on motion by Amundsen second by green, license was granted:' The Plumber's License Bond of William W. Green with the Maryland Casualty Company, in the amount of $19-000 00 was read; end on motion by Lemmon second by Moody; the surety thereon was accepted, the said bond was approved, and it was ordered that the same be placed on file: The applications of the Rochester Amusement Company for motion picture licenses at the Chateau Theatre, the Lawler Theatre and the Empress Theatre, were e,ch read, and upon motion by Moody second by Fryer, said licenses wer a grant ed. The application of John C: Tulare for a Soft Drink Dealer's License was read, and on motion by Richman second by Amundsen, license was granted: The application of CO- A. Snith for a Barber Shop License to operate one additional chair w^,s read., and on motion by Moody second by Creen, license was granted. The application of J. Co' Adams d.b.a. the Town Taxi, for transfer of taxi cab license #14 covering Chevrolet Sedan to a five -passenger Buick Sedan; bearing; State License #B-22740;9 was read, 'and on motion by Lemmon second by Moody, transf er was grant ed: The application of Elvira Settimi for an On -Sale non -intoxicating malt liquor license was read, and on motion by Amundsen second by Green, license was granted: Y The application of Johanna T: Matulys, the holder of "On Sale" non - intoxicating malt liquor license #1559 and "Off Sale non -intoxicating malt liquor li rnse-ft334, asking that the said licenses be transferred to the Eagle Club of the Eagle Lodge. at 307-X- Broadway Street South,'Rochester, Minnesota, was read, and on motion by Fryer second by Richman, the ' said licenses were ordered transferreda A missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints asked for a lower fee for using the City Hall Community Room for Sunday Morning services: On motion by Lemmon second by Amundsen, the matter was referred to the Public Gr Committee and the Custodian of the City Hall: A bill presented by Gerard Lawler in th-e sum of 5054.90 for opening a frozen sewer in Third Street Southwest, was read, and on motion by Lemnon second by Fryer, said bill was referred to the Sewer Committee; the City Attorney, and the Citi Engineer: A request by Arleigh C4 Smith,City Engineer, for an appropriating of 1,000:00 from the General Fund and 2,000400 from the Street and Alley Fund, for use of the Street and Alley Committee, was read. Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriating 1�19000400 from t General Fund and 12,000.00 from the Street and Alley Fund for use of the Street and Alley Committee, which was read, On motion by Moody second by Richman; that the said resolution be adopt as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolu- tion duly passed and adopted. Minnesota: Alderman Green introduced the folloudng resolution, .which was read: "Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, That the Public j tility Board of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, be 102 MAY and the said Board is hereby authorized end directed to enter into contract with the Hayes -Lucas Lumber Company of this City for the furnishing of ninety (90) Western Red Cedar Poles - 35 ft• in accordance vdth the following quoted resolution request: ' B e itand it i s.._her eby resolved by the Public Utility Board of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, that the Hon.
