Minutes of an adjourned regular, meeting of the Common Council`
of the City of .Rochester, Minnesota, held in tho -Council Chambers, in the
City Hall, in said City,, on Yarch 10t h,1937.
- President Liddle called the meeting, to order at 7:30 O'clock
P.M., the following members being present: Liddle, Amundsen, ''ryer,
Green, Lemmon Moody, Richman. Absent: None.
Upon motion by Moody second by •Fryer, the minutes of the meeting
of March lst,19379we're approved.
The report of the Clerk of the Municipal Courts for the week
ending March l,showing criminal fines collected N161.809 civil fees received
-911.809 conciliation court fees received O1.00, and (heck -.from Olmsted
County $60.00; and for the week ending March 8th,showing criminal fines
and costs collected 876.009, civil fees received 023.109 and conciliation
•
court fees received2.50, were each read, and President Liddle referred the
same to the City Attorney.
The report of the Building, Electrical and Plumbing Inspector
.for the month of. February, 1937 9 showing building permits issued :5,�21.00,
plumbing permits -'"14.25, and electrical permits �8000, was read, and
President Liddle referred the same to the Finance Committee.
The' retort of the Milk Inspector for the month of 'ebruary,l937,
was read, and President Liddle ordered.tthft the same be placed on file.
The report of the City Farm for the month of February showing
eceipts for the month $2.85, disbursements .$549.06, and balance on hand

motion by Lemmon second by Moibdy, transfer was granted.

An application signed by Henry Foley asking for permit to conduct
public dances in the A.O.U.W.Hall, on the following dated February 27th, March 6th,
and March 13th, was read.
The following copies ofresolut ions, passed and adopted by the Sinking
Fund Commissioners, were each read, and on motion by Green second by Moody the
actions therein set forth were approved and it was ordered that the same be placed

"WHEREAS, The City Treasurer on February 23919379 through inadvertence,
deposited with the First. National Bank of Rochester, Minnesota, certain interest
coupons in the sum of -0220.00 belonging to securities held by the Sinking Fund of
said City for Electric Light Depreciation Reserve, and
WHEREAS, the said First National Bank of Rochester did duly credit the
said amount to the account of the `said City, and
W.IETEM°EA•S; It was later discovered that the due date on said coupons was
not until June 1,1937;
NOW THIMEFORE. Be it resolved by the Com=issioners of the Sinking Fund
of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the sum of. $220.00 be appropriated from Code 249 of the Sinking
Fund and ,paid to the First National Bank, of Rochester, upon the return to the
Treasurer of said interest coupons: "
"Be it resolved by the Commissioners of the Sinking Fund of the City
of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the sum of $100900040 be appropriated from the Sinking Fund,
Code 23, Electric Light Department Depreciation Reserve, and ordered paid to the
Public Utility Board, for electric light Plant improvements under contract, in
accordance with the resolution adopted by the Public Utility Board, March 10th9l937.

With reference to our application -for -retail Club liquor
license for our Aerie Club Rooms.
We should very much appreciate if same could be acted
upon at the Council meeting tonight March loth.
We wish this license to become effective on April 5th,
1937 and -we ask for immediate action in order that certain remodel-
ing and repair work on our rooms may be started at once.
Your prompt attention in this connection will be very
much appreciated by our entire organization.

Upon motion by Fryer second by Amundsen, the application for licen
se to sell intoxicating liquor of the Zumbro Aerie of Eagles was approved,
and license was granted commencing April 5th91937.
The surety bond for on sale liquor license of the Zumbro Aerie
Fraternal Order of Eagles #22289 with thp, Seaboard Surety Company of
New York in the sum of $3000.00 was read, and upon motion by Fryer
second by Amundsen, the said bond was approvedt the surety thereon
accepted, and it was, ordered that the Pme. be placed on file:
The City Engineer submitted specifications and estimate of
cost for a motor pick-up sweeper for use of the City Engineer's Depart-
ments , which were read.
Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution granting public dance
permit to Henry Foley for the X*O:U.W.Hall, February 27th, March 6th, and
darch 13th919379 and fixing the fee it $9:009which was read .

Alderman Green introduced a resolution deeming it expedient and
necessary that a new street sweeper for the City Engineer's department be purchased,
adopting the specifications for the same and ordering advertisement for sealed bids
for Tarnishing the same, said bids to be received and opened at 7:30 o' clock P.M. ,
on AWI,. 12tlt91937 , which was read.,
Upon motion by Amundsen second by Richman,that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the
same duly passed and adopted:
Alderman Richman introduced s resolution appropriating $282 50 from
the General Fund and ordering payment made to St.Mary's Hospital, for isolation
hospitalization for Mrs Howard Wearda 4187:50, and for Gladys Rodgers $45.00 9 which
was read.
Upon motion by Amundsen second by Richman, that the said resolution

said resolution duly passed and adopted:
Alderman Moody introduced a resolution appropriating $596.19 from the
Street and Alley Fund and ordering payment made to the Street and Alley Fand for
use of equipment during: February. 1937 9 which was read-

adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted,, -
Alderman Green introduced a resolution appropriating 0202.75 from the
Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to the Mayo Trust Fund for payrolls
for. labor during the period of the weeks ending March -5t]4919379which was read.
Upon motion by Green second tV Richman,that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the .
said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Moody introduced a resolution appropriating $694.87 from the
Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to General Fund, Code 31, for adjust-
ment of insurance premiums paid on park properties,which was read.

Alderman Lemon introduced the following resolution, which
was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota:
That the following is a tabulated statement and list of the;
number of votes cast for each person at the Charter Election held March
9th,19379 in the City of Rochester,Minnesota, as determined by said
Common Council, on the canvass of the returns of said election made the

Upon motion by Lemmon second by Richman the sum of $10.00 was -
appropriated from -the General Fund and ordered paid to J.W:Feller,Post-
master, for Postage for use of the, .City Building Inspector.
Upon motion by'J'ryer second: ly Richman the City Attorney was
instructed to prepare an ordinance creating 9, public welfare board' in'
accordance with the suggestions of the Civic League.
Upon -motion bar Moody second by Richman,the City Clerk was
instructed to communicate with the Town Board of Cascade Township
regarding the condition of that portion of Fourteenth Street Northeast
which lies in Cascade Township.
Upon motion by Lemon second by Fryer, the Mayor was instructed
to communicate with Captain R.A.Radford, State Director of P.W.A. regard-
ing the request of the C:L" of Rochester for an additional P.VoiAegrant
for the construction of a City Warehouse;.
Upon motion by Fryer second by Lemmon the Common Council adjourned
to 7: 30 O'clock P.M._, on March 29th,1937.
