HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 218-18 - Reclassifications; Library/HR/City Clerk RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of approve the following job reclassifications: 1. The HR Director has requested changing a .75 FTE vacant HR Generalist position to a full-time Senior HR Consultant because attempts to fill the lower-level position have not proven successful and the addition of a senior-level position aligns with succession plans. The annual cost estimate for this change in grade level from 3 to 6 is $35,000 plus $5,000 for selected benefit increases. 2. The Rochester Public Library Director would like to reclassify a Librarian l position to a Librarian ll position in the Youth Services Division primarily for long-term strategic planning purposes. As the Library has significantly increased services to young people, there is a need to reallocate duties in order to allow more time for planning, implementation, and evaluation of services. Currently there is too much responsibility placed on division heads with little back-up depth. This Librarian II position would fill that back-up role. The anticipated additional cost is approximately $16,000 in wages plus $2,400 for benefits. 3. Transitions in the City Clerk's Office have led to vacancies that were not anticipated during the 2018 budget process. A recommendation has been made to restructure the deputy clerk’s position description to more accurately reflect the scope and depth of back-up responsibilities required for critical department functions and to add supervisory responsibilities for front-line staff. The anticipated change may require moving the deputy clerk job description from a current grade 2 position to a grade 6-7. The annual anticipated cost for this change is estimated at $22,000 to $28,000 plus $4,200 for increased associated benefit costs.
