HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 118-19 - Amicus Brief Supporting Title VII Protections RESOLUTION WHEREAS, former Mayor Brede and Mayor Norton are active members of Freedom for All Americans (FFAA), a nonpartisan group working on LGBTQ protections; and WHEREAS, FFAA has asked its member cities to support employment nondiscrimination protections by signing on to a Title VII Amicus Brief related to cases that have been appealed to the United States Supreme Court; and WHEREAS, by authorizing the City to be part of the Amicus Brief, the City of Rochester will be on record supporting the notation that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act applies to members of the LGBTQ community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, that the Council authorize the Mayor, City Clerk and City Attorney to sign on to the Amicus Brief supporting Title VII protections for members of the LGBTQ community.
