HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 133-19 - Silver Lake Improvements Bonding Resolution RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the process of submitting requests for State of Minnesota Capital Bonding Funds requires communities to provide a resolution from the governing body of the applicant; and WHEREAS, the original dam was built in 1937 and no longer serves the original purpose; and WHEREAS, the proposed modification would lessen the risk of dam failure and remove the spillway drowning hazard; and WHEREAS, the proposed modifications will connect the lake to downstream habitat, allowing fish and other aquatic animals to freely move about the waterway; and WHEREAS, modifying the dam will allow other uses such as canoeing and kayaking; and WHEREAS, pedestrian bridge option can be installed with or without the dam modifications, but dam modifications will allow trail improvements and embankments preparation for the future installation of a pedestrian bridge. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rochester hereby states its strong support for the 2020 Capital Bonding request for Silver Lake Improvements as the City’s second bonding priority for 2020.
