HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 107-20 for COVID-19 Measures Resolution RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on March 13, 2020, Governor Tim Walz issued a Peacetime Emergency for the State of Minnesota as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. WHEREAS, Governor Walz has issued several subsequent executive orders related to the COVID- 19 pandemic. WHEREAS, several other states have issued more restrictive measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 23, 2020, Wisconsin ordered all non-essential businesses closed. WHEREAS, on March 23, 2020, the Surgeon General for the United States advised that the pandemic was getting worse in America and that all Americans should stay home as much as possible. WHEREAS, healthcare workers and first responders are particularly vulnerable, as they cannot practice physical distancing at all times. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, that the City encourage all residents of and visitors to Rochester to practice physical distancing at all times, even when outdoors. Stay six feet away from any person not in your household to help protect healthcare workers and first responders. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, this encouragement shall remain in effect until the Governor’s peacetime emergency ceases.
