RESOLUTION
Establishing the 2022 Preliminary Property Tax Levy and 2022 Budget Hearing.
WHEREAS, the City annually adopts an operating levy and annual budget for the coming
year in accordance with the City’s Home Rule Charter and Minnesota Statutes; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes section 275.065, subd. 1, requires cities to certify a
maximum proposed levy and preliminary budget on or before September 30, 2021, and
to establish a public meeting date for the purpose of discussing said proposed levy and
budget; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Rochester has reviewed the preliminary
budget and levy; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council held an optional public hearing on September 20,
2021 to receive public feedback on the preliminary 2022 tax levy, 2022-2023 operating
budgets and 2022-2027 capital improvement plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Rochester
that the preliminary 2022 net tax levy to be certified to the Olmsted County Auditor is
$86,823,881, which is a 6.5% increase, and is hereby established as the maximum
possible net tax levy for property tax payable in 2021.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the recommended budget amount of $494,396,233
has been reviewed and potential financing sources identified as well as priorities and
programs for 2022.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Monday, December 6, 2021, is hereby established
for the public hearing and final adoption of the recommended 2022 budget and tax levy.
