RESOLUTION
Removing Potential Landmark Designation and denying application for Historic
Landmark at 11 4th St SE.
WHEREAS, an application was received by the City on February 5, 2021, requesting
historic landmark designation of 11 4th St SE; and
WHEREAS, The Rochester HPC designated 11 4th St SE, a potential landmark on March
23, 2021; and
WHEREAS, The City of Rochester is property owner of 11 4th St SE; and
WHEREAS, A property owner may, under Section 4-7-16 of the Heritage Preservation
Ordinance, appeal the decision of the HPC to the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester
that the potential landmark designation of 11 4th St SE is hereby overturned.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, City of Rochester Landmark Designation Studies
completed by New History in July 2021 for property located at 11 4th St SE and also
confirmed by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) in a letter dated August 19,
2021, indicates lack of historic integrity to support designation of this property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED therefore that the application for landmark designation is
denied.
