HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 014-22 - Council Consent to Declaration of Local Emergency January 2022 RESOLUTION Adopting Council Consent to the Mayoral Declaration of Local Emergency Issued January 15, 2022. WHEREAS, Mayor Norton issued a Declaration of Local Emergency on January 15, 2022, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and recent developments involving the SARS-CoV- 2 virus, Omicron Variant; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 12.29 does not allow a Mayoral declaration to continue beyond three days without consent of the governing body; and WHEREAS, The City council finds that the COVID-19 pandemic has created a state of local emergency and that the Mayor’s Declaration should continue until 11:59 p.m. on March 7, 2022, unless terminated earlier by Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, The City Council does consent to Mayor Norton’s January 15, 2022, Declaration of Local Emergency. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Declaration of Local Emergency shall continue until 11:59 p.m. on March 7, 2022, unless terminated earlier by the Common Council.
