The Committee shall appoint a Chair and Vice Chair; and WHEREAS, on May 17, 2021, the Common Council adopted Resolution 104-21, granting the Committee approval to implement a Community Funding Program (“Program”), requiring outside agencies to engage in an application process through the committee to receive program and/or facility funds; and WHEREAS, the City has historically allocated funds within a limited scope, where the receiving agency either operated within a City-owned facility, or provided a service that the City would otherwise directly provide; and WHEREAS, the Program inspired an unintended abundance of applications, many of which fell outside of the aforementioned scope; and WHEREAS, during the 2021 council discussions of the budget, the Council and Committee members affirmed that the Program did not prove helpful and should not be repeated; and WHEREAS, on May 25, 2022, the Committee unanimously approved recommending the Common Council reinstitute the original Establishing Resolution (No. 036-18) for the Committee with the purpose of removing the Community Funding Application process implemented in 2021.
