HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 178-22 - Resolution - Adopting Refined Financial Parameters for 125LIVE Facility Build-out and Upgrades to Silver Lake Station August 2022 RESOLUTION Adopting Refined Financial Parameters for the 125LIVE Facility Build-Out and the Upgrades to Silver Lake Station. WHEREAS, on January 19, 2022, the Common Council of the City of Rochester adopted Resolution No. 021-22, “Advancing the Accelerated Investment model for Park Levy Investment,” with $700,000 allocated for the build-out at 125LIVE or the Silver Lake Station upgrades; and WHEREAS, the City of Rochester has an important commitment to serve the needs of senior citizens through the ongoing support of a Rochester Senior Center in the community, with shared services supportive of the goals of the Parks and Recreation Department and government services in general; and, WHEREAS, both the City and the Rochester Senior Center have identified a need for additional multipurpose space for programming at 125LIVE and Silver Lake Station; and, WHEREAS, the completed space would be a shared space, primarily programmed by 125LIVE staff, with the City utilizing the space for City or Parks & Recreation programming (e.g. AccessAble Recreation), during the following times:  Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 2:00 - 8:30 p.m.  Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, AccessABLE Recreation would have expanded programming opportunities in this space, due to its size and multipurpose nature, and have a separate accessible entrance into the completed space on the lower level of the 125LIVE facility; and WHEREAS, both the City and Senior Citizens Services, Inc (the current contractor) would sign off on the final bid documents to build out the unfinished space; and WHEREAS, in January 2022, the City received an initial estimate of $400,000 to complete the 3,600 square foot space in the lower level (“unfinished space”) of the 125LIVE facility; and, WHEREAS, the remaining surplus of the original allocation (estimated at $300,000) would go to enhancements at Silver Lake Station, including HVAC improvements, kitchen area upgrades, furnishings, and cosmetic items. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester that the Council authorizes moving forward with construction of the unfinished space at the 125LIVE facility; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the surplus of monies not spent on the construction of unfinished space at 125LIVE will be utilized for upgrades at Silver Lake Station, not to exceed the original $700,000 allocated for the two projects.
