HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 305-13• RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the 2013 Session of the Minnesota Legislature enacted Laws 2013, chapter 143, article 10 relating to the Destination Medical Center; and, WHEREAS, Laws 2013, chapter 143, article 10, section 14 states that the City of Rochester may, after holding a public hearing and passing a resolution, use $5,000,000 of the $10,000,000 allocated to an economic development fund in Laws 1998, chapter 389, article 8, section 43, subdivision 3, as amended by Laws 2005, First Special Session chapter 3, article 5, section 28, and Laws 2011, First Special Session chapter 7, article 4, section 5, paragraph (c), clause (9), for grants to any or all of 17 named cities for economic development projects, to fund public infrastructure projects contained in the development plan under Minnesota Statutes, section 469.42; and, WHEREAS, as required by Laws 2013, chapter 143, article 10, section 14, the City of Rochester Common Council held a public hearing as part of its regular city council meeting on June 17, 2013, to consider this issue; and, WHEREAS, at the June 17th council meeting, the Council gave the public the opportunity to comment on the sales tax grants; and, WHEREAS, after considering the testimony and comments provided at the June 17tn council meeting, the Council concluded that the $5,000,000 portion of the $10,000,000 allocated to an economic development fund should be shared with the 17 named cities for economic development projects. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Rochester Common Council that the City, pursuant to Laws 2013, chapter 143, article 10, section 14, does hereby state that $5,000,000 of the $10,000,000 allocated to an economic development fund in Laws 1998, chapter 389, article 8, section 43, subdivision .3, as amended by Laws 2005, First Special Session chapter 3, article 5, section 28, and Laws 2011, First Special Session chapter 7, article 4, section 5, paragraph (c), clause (9), will be used for grants to any or all of 17 named cities for economic development projects. 40 e PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA, THIS DAY , 2013.
