HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 247-14 • 247-14 D36 RESOLUTION WHEREAS,the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency(MPCA)administers the Clean Water Partnership (CWP)Grant program;and WHEREAS, if a grant is awarded, a minimum fifty percent total of total project costs must come from a local match of cash or in-kind supplies and services,in any combination,and no more than twenty percent of the total project costs can be from other state and federal sources;and WHEREAS,the MPCA is accepting CWP grant applications on or before July 3,2014;and WHEREAS,the City of Rochester intends to submit an application to the MPCA for a CWP grant to conduct a feasibility study of the Destination Medical Center Development District to identify public right-of-way areas, particularly boulevards,that can feasibly support tree box plantings and rain gardens • and install demonstration plantings in one block to demonstrate storm water capture and reuse practices in an ultra-urban setting,hereinafter the"Green Infrastructure Opportunities"Project. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Rochester authorizes staff to submit a CWP grant application for the Green Infrastructure Opportunities Project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that submittal of a proposal does not obligate this City to accept a grant if so offered and that some combination of staff time and storm water utility funding will be needed to support this project if the grant is awarded. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Works Director is authorized to submit the proposal for the above-mentioned Project and shall have the authority to represent the City Council in all matters that do not specifically require the action of this body. • 247-14 D36 PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA, THIS 16th DAY OF JUNE za14.
