HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 071-23 - Resolution - Services to Crime Victims Grant with Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs RESOLUTION Authorizing a Services to Crime Victims Grant with Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs. WHEREAS, the Rochester City Attorney’s Office (CAO) has entered into previous grant agreements with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs since 2017; and WHEREAS, this grant has allowed the CAO to hire an additional victim witness liaison and to provide additional assistance to victims of crime prosecuted by the CAO; and WHEREAS, the CAO relies on the crime victim grant to fund an additional Victim Witness Liaison position to provide the direct client assistance our victims of crime deserve; and WHEREAS, the CAO, a local unit of government, is due to competitively re-apply for a 12-month grant for the grant period starting October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024; and WHEREAS, applications are due on April 12, 2023. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Rochester that the application, acceptance of, and execution of agreements related to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Prosecutorial Services to Crime Victims Grant to assist the City of Rochester City Attorney’s Office in providing assistance to crime victims are authorized. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor, City Clerk and City Attorney are authorized and directed to sign the grant agreement when approved, any amendments thereto, and any other documents needed to implement this resolution.
