HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 134-04 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Transportation Equity Act—21 (TEA) is coming to,an end and the United States Congress is working on a new transportation bill; and, WHEREAS, transportation funding.is a vital source to a growing economy, the public's safety and quality of life; and, WHEREAS, the United States .Senate has passed a transportation funding bill which corrected the Highway Trust Fund's funding formula which penalized states for their use of Ethanol by placing taxes collected on Ethanol and/or other such fuels into the Highway Trust Fund instead of the general fund; and, WHEREAS, in the same Senate bill, the State of Minnesota will receive over $2 billion more from the federal Highway Trust Fund over the next six years than previously. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rochester hereby declares its support the U.S. House of Representatives passing a similar TEA-21 six-year re-authorization bill that would, in turn, provide greater transportation funding for the State of Minnesota, the •County of Olmsted and the City of Rochester, Minnesota.
