HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 214-04 RESOLUTION • WHEREAS, State Local Government Aid has been an important source of funding for the operational budget of the City of Rochester for over 30 years, and WHEREAS, Local Government Aid has assisted the City in providing services to Rochester taxpayers and citizens, and WHEREAS, Local Government Aid had reduced demands on the local property tax to fund needed government services, and WHEREAS, the Local Government Aid certified for 2003 of $11.1 million was reduced to $7.5 million as a result of the State budget crisis, and WHEREAS the 2004 Local Government Aid of $7.5 million is projected to decline to $5.9 million in 2005, and WHEREAS such decline will reduce services or increase property taxes in Rochester, and WHEREAS, the Senate Tax Bill includes provisions for a revised Local Government Aid formula and for $60 million in additional funding for Local Government Aid for 2005, and • WHEREAS, the formula change and additional funding would increase Rochester's Local Government Aid funding from $7.5 million in 2004 to $8.2 million in 2005, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of Rochester ,express support for the Senate Tax Bill formula revisions and the additional Local Government Aid funding for 2005.
