HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 460-07 • RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the JOBZ program adopted by the Minnesota State-Legislature has proven to be a valuable asset in the Rochester Area by providing a tool for area communities use in securing private capital investment and job growth for area residents; and, WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota, area businesses and local units of government have invested significant private and public resources in cultivating and soliciting business investment for the purposes of expanding the state and local tax base and creation of livable wage jobs; and, WHEREAS, the City of Rochester sees JOBZ as a needed incentive to secure future opportunities from businesses it has identified with qualified interest in considering Minnesota and the Rochester area as a potential site for future location; and, WHEREAS, these businesses represent the opportunity to grow the BioBusiness base for the State of Minnesota by investing millions of dollars in capital and creating hundreds of new livable wage jobs; and, WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Legislature is likely to consider such legislation in future session of the State Legislature, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rochester encourages our area's legislative delegation •to lead an effort within the State Legislature to continue the JOBZ program for Olmsted County and Rochester Area communities' participation within that program in an equal manner with all other Greater Minnesota counties.
