Military Event 1. The City will grant unpaid leave to employees for attendance of certain military events. An employee may attend certain events relating to the military service of the employee's spouse, parent or child to which the employee is invited or otherwise called upon to attend by proper military authority. (2008 Minnesota Session Laws Article 2, Section 8) B. Attendance of Military Event 1. When invited or otherwise called upon to attend by proper military authority, an employee may attend: (a) departure or return ceremonies for deploying or returning military personnel or units; (b) family training or readiness events sponsored or conducted by the military; and (c) events held as part of official military reintegration programs. 2. The employee shall provide reasonable notice when requesting time off and shall submit a copy of the formal documentation/invitation from the appropriate military commander as evidence of the event. 3. The employee will be allowed unpaid leave not to exceed two (2) consecutive days or six (6) days in a calendar year. 4. The employee may substitute paid personal time for the unpaid leave.
