HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 024-24 - Resolution - Expansion of the Pilot Project with Enterprise Fleet Management for Additional Police Department Fleet Vehicles RESOLUTION Authorizing Expansion of the Pilot Project with Enterprise Fleet Management for Additional Police Department Fleet Vehicles. WHEREAS, the Common Council authorized a pilot program wherein the Rochester Police Department was authorized to lease vehicles from Enterprise Fleet Management; and WHEREAS, the benefits of leasing police vehicles instead of purchasing them include: police vehicle fleet budget stability; reduction of large capital outlay; maximization of potential equity of vehicles at time of resale; reduction of average vehicle replacement time; increased safety for police officers and community members; reduction of maintenance costs; and a more fuel efficient police fleet; and WHEREAS, it is in the City’s best interest to continue its partnership with Enterprise Fleet Management for the acquisition of police vehicles due to the clear value provided in the first three months of the contracted relationship. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota that the Council hereby approves the expansion of the pilot project and authorizes the police department to acquire three additional vehicles from Enterprise Fleet that were previously not approved, with public safety aid funding assisting the City in purchasing the necessary vehicles. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if additional agreements with Enterprise are needed, the City may execute those agreements for necessary police fleet vehicles with funding for the project coming from the equipment revolving fund.
