HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 108-24 - Resolution - Contingency Funds for Gap Funding to Extend Overflow Shelter through 2025 RESOLUTION Authorizing Contingency Funding to Supplement Funding Needs to Extend the Overflow Shelter through 2025. WHEREAS, The City has previously contributed to Catholic Charities, supporting their work to provide overnight shelter to Persons Experiencing Homelessness; and WHEREAS, The Warming Center is operated by Catholic Charities and has capacity to serve 45 individuals. Since fall of 2023, Catholic Charities and Salvation Army have partnered to provide an overflow shelter at a Salvation Army facility; and WHEREAS, The overflow shelter meets a current need to continue to provide overnight shelter through 2025; and WHEREAS, City Council is requested to fund up to $75,000 from contingency funds, to support four months of staffing costs in addition to short-term rent and maintenance costs to cover the unanticipated budgetary needs to continue to extend the overflow shelter through 2025 to meet these short-term needs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, MN that the Council does hereby authorize up to $75,000 in contingency funds to supplement funding needs to extend the overflow shelter through 2025.
