AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE EDWARD & LYDIA
ROSENOW FAMILY RESIDENCE A HISTORIC LANDMARK
SITE AND AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP AS
REFERENCED IN 60.200.020(A) OF THE UNIFIED
DEVELOPMENT CODE OF THE CITY OF ROCHESTER.
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROCHESTER DO ORDAIN:
Section 1. The City of Rochester Heritage Preservation Commission held a public
hearing and made a recommendation that the Common Council designate the following
property as a locally designated historic landmark site. The property subject to historic
landmark designation is described as follows and illustrated in Exhibit “A”:
Name: Edward & Lydia Rosenow Family Residence
Address: 617 Ninth Avenue SW
Rochester, MN 55902
Legal:
Commencing at a point on the East line of Block Thirty-eight (38), Head and
McMahon’s Addition to the City of Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota,
90 feet North of the SE corner thereof; thence West parallel with the South
line of said Block, 179 feet; thence North parallel with the East line of said
Block 90 feet; thence East parallel with the South line of said Block, 179 feet
to the East line of said Block, thence South on the East line of said Block to
the place of beginning.
Section 2. On June 26, 2023, the Common Council considered the reports and
recommendations of the subject property.
Section 3. On June 26, 2023, the Common Council of the City of Rochester
determined that the Edward & Lydia Rosenow Family residence currently owned by B. Dale
& Jane Goodfriend meets four requirements to designate as a local historic landmark for the
City of Rochester.
Section 4. Therefore, pursuant to section 60.200.040(C) of the Unified
Development Code of the City of Rochester, the Edward & Lydia Rosenow Family
Residence shall be designated as a local historic landmark site and shall be included to the
official list of Landmark Properties.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be effective from and after publication.
