HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 160-24 - Resolution - Support and Staff for Community Change Grant RESOLUTION Council Support for Creating a City Position Utilizing Grant Funds from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Community Change Grant. WHEREAS, The City of Rochester is preparing a grant application for the Community Change Grant (“grant”); and WHEREAS, the grant is intended to support existing community partner work around home rehab, home weatherization, and energy upgrades; and WHEREAS, The grant is additionally intended to expand upon the City's existing single- family and rental rehab programs--available to income qualifying residents; and WHEREAS, Community Development is requesting the City Council authorize the creation of a Rehab Coordinator/Project Manager role, if grant funding is awarding; and WHEREAS After the three-year sunset of the grant, the role could be supported by Community Development Block Grant and Economic Vitality funding thereafter to support an envisioned expansion of our current home rehab programs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, MN, that the Council supports the sponsorship of an application for grant funds from the Environmental Protection Agency to use for the expansion of existing community housing rehabilitation, housing weatherization, and energy upgrade programs. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the grant will be utilized to create a full-time Rehab Coordinator/ Program Manager role if awarded funding.
