HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 169-24 - Resolution - Application for Charging and Fueling Infastructure Grant RESOLUTION Authorizing the application for United States Department of Transportation Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant. WHEREAS, the City of Rochester, Minnesota, is committed to advancing sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the installation of strategic, accessible and equitable electric vehicle (EV) charging; and WHEREAS, the City of Rochester, in partnership with Olmsted County and Rochester Community and Technical College, proposes to install dual-port Level 2 chargers and direct current (DC) fast charging stations at key locations including downtown Rochester, the Rochester Community and Technical College Regional Sports Complex, and along U.S. Highway 63 at the Fairgrounds Park & Ride; and WHEREAS, federal investment through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) funds will support the rollout of EVs, advance the City's sustainability goals, and improve the quality of life in underserved neighborhoods; BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Rochester hereby authorizes the application for the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program through the United States Department of Transportation. The Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program provides funding to strategically deploy publicly accessible electric vehicle charging infrastructure and other alternative fueling infrastructure.
