Home My WebLink AboutResolution No. 049-25 - Resolution - Application for GreenCorps Member 2025-2026 RESOLUTION Adopting a Resolution Authorizing Support of Application to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to Host a GreenCorps Member for the 2025-2026 Program Year WHEREAS, the Minnesota GreenCorps program, coordinated by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), seeks to preserve and protect Minnesota’s environment while training a new generation of environmental professionals; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota GreenCorps program places AmeriCorps members with host site organizations to assist communities in increasing resilience to climate change WHEREAS, Minnesota GreenCorps members serve full-time for 11 months to implement environmental projects that support local sustainability efforts, improve environmental quality, and engage the community in climate action; and WHEREAS, if the MPCA selects the City of Rochester, the organization is committed to implementing the proposed project as described in the host site application, and in accordance with a pre-scoped position description; and WHEREAS, there are no obligations for the City of Rochester until it enters into a host site agreement with the MPCA that identifies the terms, conditions, roles and responsibilities; which will be brought to the Council for approval should the City’s application be selected. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, MN that the City: 1. The City of Rochester is authorized to apply to host a Minnesota GreenCorps member for the 2025-2026 program year. 2. The City commits to supporting the Minnesota GreenCorps member’s service by providing the necessary resources and supervision to ensure successful project implementation.
