HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 268-25 - Resolution - Denying Removing Landmark Status from Parcels RESOLUTION Denying the Request for Landmark Removal at 7, 21, and 23 2nd Street SW WHEREAS, Rochester City Council authorized the designation of the Downtown Commercial Historic Landmark District, based on requirements for historic significance and historic integrity as required in the Unified Development Code, Section 60.200.040C5 in 2024; and WHEREAS, 7, 21, and 23 2nd Street SW (the properties) were included within that designation as properties contributing to the historic district; and WHEREAS, an application was made by Capital Ventures LLC., to remove the landmark status from the properties in order to pursue a project not meeting adopted standards for historic landmarks; and WHEREAS, the Heritage Preservation Commission, on September 23, 2025 held a public hearing and determined that the properties maintain their historic significance and historic integrity and continue to contribute to the historic landmark district and incomplete evidence to support a finding of economic hardship was submitted by the applicant. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, MN that the request to remove landmark designation from the properties is denied.
