HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-18-1938Record of Official Proceedings of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minn., November.18th,1939 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota,held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, on November l9th,1938. President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 5:15 o'clock P.M., the following members being present: Lemmon, Amundsen, Fryer, Moody, Richman, Williams. Absent: Green. The call for the special meeting was read, and President Lemmon ordered that the same be placed on file; said meeting having been called for the purpose of taking action on City Wage Scale resolution, as requested by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works and -any other business the said Common Council might deem proper. Alderman Amundsen introduced. the following resolution which was read: "EHEREAS, the City of Rochester did on the llth day of April,1938, by a jresolution of its Common Council adopt a minimum wage scale in accordance with the provision of Ordinance No.415 of said City; j AND WHEREAS, said City is about to undertake certain Street Improvements and the United States Government, through its Public Works Administration has agreed to furnish certain money to be used in connection with said. Improvements, (Said project being known as Docket No.Minn-1515 F.) and has requested that the said Wage Scale be.modified and amended for use in carrying out and performing r of said project. Sub -Foreman Teamst4rs; with Teams." ` Upon motion by Willisma second by Richman, that the said resolution .be adopted as read, and all .voting in favor thereof, President Lemmon declared the said resolution duly passed ,and adopted. A1detmaniMoody introduced a resolution.granting public dance permit to .Ryan for the Armory November 29th,1938,and fixing the -fee at $3.00, Phich was ead. Upon motion by Moody second by Amundsen,that the said resolution be adopted s read, and all voting in favor thereof, Presiddnt Lemmon declared t-he said esolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Moody introduced a resolution granting public dance permit to ale Hess for the A.O..U.W.Hall for November l9th,.1938, and fixing the fee at 3..00, which was read. Upon motion by Moody second by Amuudsen that the said resolution be dopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof,. President Lemmon-declared the aid resolution duly passed and adopted. The application of Andrew Chafos for a pin ball machine license at No..21 Broadway Street' South,was read, and up&n motion by Fryer second by Amundsen, license was granted. The following recommendation of the Zoning Board. was read: "Rochester, Rinnesota, Honorable Mayor and Common Council November 19,1939. City of Rochester, Minnesota. Gentlemen: 180 Record of Official Proceedings of the -Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minn., November 1 s ,1939 We, the Board of Zoning do hereby recommend that the application of L.A.gepp for a permit to extend the size of his building located on Outlot 2, less the S.2 acres, and. also located on Outlot 3, in the i, Northern Addition to the City of Rochester, Minnesota, be granted. ` f Yburs very truly, I F.R.Finch Secretary of the Board l' of Zoning. „ I' Upon motion by Amundsen second by Richman, the Common Council Pet a date for a hearing on the application of L.A.gepp for a permit to extend the size ,of his building located^on-:parts of Outlot 2 and 3, in Northern Addition ag above described, said hearing to be held on Debember 5th,1939, at 2:00 o'clock I P.M., and directed the City Clerk to give official notice thereof. The following recommendation of the Zoning Board was read: I "Rochester, Minnesota, November 18,1939- Honorable Mayor and Common Council, City of Rochester, Minnesota. Gentlemen: I We, the Board of Zoning of the City of Rochester, hereby recommend that the application for a permit for the construction of a garage on Lot 4, in Block'26, Original Plat of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, by the Episcopal Church, be granted, in accordance with the request $S said Church. )Fours very truly, F.R.Finch j, Secretary of Board of Zoning. " Upon motion by Fryer second by Williams, the Common Council set a date for a hearing on the application of the Episcopal Church for a permit to build a garage,on Lot +,Block 26,Original Plat, said hearing to be held on December 5th,1938, at 2:00 o'clock P.-M., and directed the City Clerk to give official notice thereof. ` j Upon motion by ifoody second by Fryer the Common Council adjourned.
