Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said

City on May 25th, 1939 • '
President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P.'M:,' the
following members being present: President Lemmon, Aldermen Amundsen, Fryer,
Moody, Richman, Williams. Absent: Green.
The call for the special meeting was read and President Lemmon ordered
that the 'sane be placed on file; "said meeting having "been called for the
!purpose of releasing collateral deposited by the Union National Bank in lieu of
,their depository bond, and any other business the said Common Council might
'deem proper.
A communication from the Union -National Bank requesting permission to
substitute $50,000.00 par value U.-S.Treasuty notes due March 15,1941, for
t
the $50,000.00 par value Home Owners Loan Corporation_ b'onds,due August 1st,
1949,and now on deposit in lieu of their depository bonds, for the reason that
the said.Home Owners Loan Corporation bonds had been called by the United States
Government for payment on June lst,1939, was read and President Lemmon ordered
t
that the same be placed on file.
Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution,whic'h was read:
"Be it resolved by the Commohi Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the City Treasurer of said City, be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to execute the necessary papers for the release of the collateral
deposits made in lieu of City depository bond 'as set forth in the following
communication, and that he execute the required receipt for the replacement of
'the collateral deposit as also set forth in said communication:

Gentlemen:
Due to a call bK the U.S.Government of Home Owners Loan Co�i_poration
2g's bonds due August 1,19 9 as of June 1,1939, we kindly request to substitute
for $50,000.00 par value Home Owners Loan Corporation 2A1 bonds due August 1st,
'1949 pledged to secure City deposits with the Union'National Bank, the following
,described bonds,
$50,000.00 par value U.S.Treasury notes 11% due March 15,1941.

Upon motion by Fryer second by Richman that the said resolution be adopted
as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Lemmon declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted.

A cor`amunication,from the Public Grounds Committee recommending that

proposals be obtained for painting the outside of the Williams Apartment
building, the'Williams cottage on Fourth Street Southwest, and the house and
barn at the dumping.grounds, was read, an& said Public Grounds Committee
was informally instructed to secure such proposals.
Upon motion by Fryer second by' Williams, W.E.,.litchel,Assistant Superinten
at the Dumping Grounds, was granted a vacation commencing June 16th,1939'
An emergency authorization given by the Mayor for the purchase of approxi
ly-9000 gallons gasoline, was read and upon motion by Richman second by Fryer
approved and
it was ordered that the same be/filed.
Upon motion by Williams second by Moody the Common Council adjourned.
