Common Council of the City -..of :Rochester, .Minn.; August ,17th, 1939 343 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Counci-1 of the .City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the -Council Chambers, in the City'Hall, in said City, on August 17th,1939- President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P.M., the following members being present: Lemmon, Amundsen, Fryer, Green, Moody, Williams. The call for the special meeting was read and Pre si dent Lemmon o rde 'red that the same be placed on file; said meeting having been called for the purpose of appointing an Alderman for the Third War& to fill the vacancy of Crgorge Richman, deceased, and any other business the said Common Council may deem proper. Upon motion by Williams, second by Amundsen, and all voting in favor thereof, Harold J. Mrachek was appointed Alderman of the Third Ward to fill the vacancy of the late George'Richman. - A report and recommendation by the Public Grounds Committee and the Purchasing Committee that the Police Department, City Clerk's Office, Building Inspector's office, -and the City Engineer's office in the City Hall; be rewired and that a quotation by the H. & H-. Electric Company in the sum of-,$149*00 for doing said retgiring be accepted, was read, and upon motion by Green second by Fryer the said report was accepted, an& the'Committees authorized to proceed and have the said reqiring done. - Upon motion by Fryer second by Green the said Committees were authorized and directed to regire the halls on the first floor of the City Hall along with the above mentioned offices. The appointment by the President of the Common Council of Alderman Green as a 'member of the Board of Equalization to fill the vacancy of the late George Richman was read and ordered, placed on file. The Chief of the Fire Department called the attention of the Council to needed repairs to the roof on the central fire station, and upon motion by Fryer second by Green the utter was referred to the Fire Department Committee and the Chief of the Fire Department. A discussion on the position and applicants for appointment as Electrical Inspector was held, and upon motion by Moody second by Fryer action thereon was deferred until the meeting. of August 21st, 1939. The Claim of the Olmsted County in the sum of $59.4O,for specialassessments, on property owned by -the State of Mi-nnesota, was read, and upon motion by Fryer second by Green the said' claim was allowed and the Mayor and City Clerk authorizes the City Treasurer from and directed to draw a warrant upon/the General Fund and make payment accordingly:, Upon motion by Williams second by Green the Common Council adjourned.
