Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall in said
City,. on February 28th, 1940.
President`Lemmon called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P.M., the
following members being present: Lemmon,.Amundsen, Fryer, Green, *oody, Mrachek,
Williams. -Absent-: None.
The tali for the special meeting was read and President Lemmon ordered
that the aame be placed on file; said meeting having been called for the
purpose of canvassing the returns of the Primary Election -held February 27th,
1940, and any other business the said Common Council might deem proper.
T.he:Common-,Co#ncil canvassed the returns of the BrImary Election held
February 27th,1940.
Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution,which was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the following is a tabulated statement of the number of votes cast for
each person at the'Primary Election held on the 27th day of February,A.D.1940,
in the City of Rochester, Minnesota, as determined by said Common Council on the,
canvass of the returns of the said Primary Election made this 28th day of
February, 1940, and that the said tabulated statement is hereby declared to
show the result of the said Primary Election:

Be it further resolved by the said Common Council:
That Leo C. Anderson, and S.Smith Fryer are hereby declared to be
candidates for Alderman of the First Ward of the City of Rochester, Minnesota,
at the Charter Election to be held March 12th, 1940;
That Glean L.Bowers and Benj.S.Green are hereby declared to be candidates
for Alderman of the Third Ward of the City of Rochester,Minnesota, at the
Charter Election to be held March 12th,1940;
The City Clerk of said City is hereby instructed to cause the names of the
said persons to be printed as candidat6s for the respective offices upon the
official ballots at the coming Charter Election to be held March lhth, 1940."
Upon motion by Fryer second by Williams that the said resolution be adopted'
as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Lemmon declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted.
Upon motion by Williams second by Mrachek the Common Council adjourbed.
