Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City, on September 9, 1958.
President Kamm called the meeting to order at 7:30 P. M., the following members being
present: President Kamm, Aldermen Haas, Hanlon, McGuckin, Tingley, Wilkus. Absent: Morris.
The call of the special meeting was read and President Kamm ordered that the same be
placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of authorizing the Airport
Commission to advertise for bids for the two buildings approved by the C.A.A., namely the weather
bureau and maintenance and tower building, it is the desire to award the bids on October 9th or
before if possible and any other business the said Common Council may deem proper.
The following recommendation of the Airport Commission was read:
"Honorable Members, Common Council
City of Rochester
Rochester, Minnesota
Gentlemen:
At a meeting of the Airport Commission held at the offices of the Airport
Company, September 5, 1958, the Commission was informed that plans and speci-
fications for the Service and Tower Building and Weather Building at the New
Rochester Airport had been approved by the State Department of Aeronautics
and the Civil Aeronautics Administration.
The Airport Commission hereby requests the Common Council to approve the
plans and specifications for the Servicekand Twoer Building and Weather
Building and to advertise for bids for their construction. It is recommended
that in order to suit the convenience of the participating State and Federal
Agencies, that bids be opened on October 9, 1958 at 8:00 o'clock P.'M.

Alderman Wilkus stated that he felt that as long as the Council was meeting on October 6th that
the bids should be received and opened at that time. A motion was then made by Wilkus that the
recommendation of the Airport Commission be approved but that bids be received at 2:00 o'clock
P. M. on October 6th, 1958. Hanlon seconded the motion and all voted in favor thereof.
Alderman Wilkus introduced a resolution approving plans and specifications and
ordering bids for the construction of a weather bureau building and a tower and service building
(Maintenance and Control Cab Building) at the new Municipal Airport, which was read. A motion
was made by Hanlon, second by McGuckin, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting
in favor thereof, President Kamm declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Upon motion by Haas, second by McGuckin, the meeting was adjourned.
