City of -Rochester,, Minn., March .1. 1961 Minutes of an adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the City Hall, in said City, on March 1, 1961. President Tingley called the meeting to order at 3:00 o'clock P. M.,'the following members being present: President Tingley, Aldermen Morris, Stadler and Wilson. Absent: Gifford Brooks and Wilkus. r The Council then proceeded to the polling planes in the various precincts of the City to inspect the register counters of the voting machines and to compare the number of votes shown by such voting machines with the returns submitted by the Judges at the City Primary Election held February 28, 1961. R After making the canvass -of the voting machines the Council members returned to the City Hall at 5:10 P. M. President Tingley -called the meeting to order, the following members being present: President Tingley, Aldermen Brooks, Morris, Stadler and Wilson. Absent: Gifford and Wilkus. Alderman Stadler then introduced the following resolution canvassing eeturns forthe n City Primary Election held on February 28, 1961: "Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota: That the following is a tabulated statement of the number of votes cast for each person at the Primary Election held on the 28th day of February, A..D. 1961, in the City of Rochester, as determined by said Common Council on the canvass of the returns.of the said Primary Election made this 1st day of March, A. Knapp 124 96 14 234 James R..Wilson 211 352 84 647 a Be it further resolved by the said Common Council: That Carl Hooper and Alex P..Smekta are hereby declared to be candidates for the Mayor of the City of Rochester, Minnesota at the Charter Election to be held on March 14th, 1961. That Marvin W. Price and Albert J._Tingley are hereby declared to be candidates for City Assessor, of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, at the Charter Election tobe held on March-14th, 1961. That Charles C. Blake and James R. Wilson are hereby declared to be candidates for the Alderman"of the Third Ward of the City'of Rochester, Minnesota, at the Charter Election to be held on March 14th, 1961. Be it further resolved that the City Clerk of said City is hereby instructed to 1 • 1 1 C� 1 • Record of Official Proceedings of the Co-ommon Council of the City of Rochester, Minn., March: A. 1961 17 [I • 11 1 1 cause the names of the said persons to be printed as candidates for the respective offices upon the official ballots at the coming Charter Election to be held on March 14th, 1961." A motion was then made by Stadler, second by Wilson, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all present `voting in favor thereof, President Tingley declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. The following claims were each read and upon motion by Wilson, second by Morris, the same were approved and the Mayor and City Clerk were authoaized and directed to draw warrants upon the City.Treasurer and make payments accordingly: From the General.Fund: John Sutherland, $21.75; Marion Be DeMille, $21,75; Sylvia E Ekman, $22.50; Mrs.Catherine Coleman, $22.10; Mrs..
