Common Council 6 7 of the City of Rochester, Minn., October 14, 1963 FY=60252 Minutes of and adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers.in City Hall, in said City, on October 14,1963. President Tingley called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M., the following members being present: President Tingley, Aldermen DeVries, Leonard, McCaleb, Thomas, Wilson. 4 Absent: Alderman Bergstedt. r.--C Upon motion by DeVries, second by Leonard, and all present voting in favor thereof,. the minutes of the meeting of October,7, 1963 were approved with the following Addition: On the recommendation of the Public Works Committee approving the extension of sanitary sewer and • water main on the south side of 2nd Street Southwest between.18th and 19th Avenue, the motion was left off.( Page 10). The motion was "Upon motion by Leonard, second by McCaelb, and all present voting in favor thereof, the recommendation was approved". A letter from the Rochester Airport Commission recommending that the Common Council approve the amendment to the Airport Restaurant Lease between the City of -Rochester and Mr. Mel Dubbels, tabled from the last meeting, was again read. A motion was then made by DeVries, second by Leonard, that the recommendation be approved and the City Attorney prepare a resolution' authorizing execution of the said lease; all present voted in favo; thereof. Alderman Wilson then introduced a resolution authorizing and directing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the amendment to the Airport Restaurant Lease. A motion was made by DeVries, second by Thomas, that the said resolution be adopted as read and all present voting in favor thereof, President Tingley declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted and the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized and instructed to execute the said lease. Alderman DeVries,then introduced a resolution.accepting the bid of Carlisle G. Fraser,.Inc. for relief trunk line in Caecade Street from 13th Avenue to the outlet below llth Avenue; a supplementary main in 13th Avenue from the trunk line to Elton Hills Drive; a supplementary main in Elton Hills Drive from 13th Avenue to 12th Avenue; and additional catch basin inlets in the Elton Hills area. A motion was made by DeVries, second by Wilson, that the said resolution be adopted as read and all present voting in favor thereof, President Tingley declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. • A letter signed by Lyle W. Gardner, Comppander of Wm. T. McCoy Post No. 92, requesting that they be given permission to use the Mayo Civic Auditorium free of charge for the annual observance and program for Veterans Day (formerly called Armistice Day) was read. Upon motion by Thomas, second by DeVries, and.all present voting in favor -thereof, the letter was referred to the Auditorium Committee of the Board of Park Commissioners for their.recommendation, with the. request that they send an answer back to the Council before the next meeting on October 21, 1963. President Tingley stated that this formal meeting had been called for the purpose of meeting with the State of Minnesota, Highway Department but they were unable to be here until October 23, 1963, so he'suggested that the be meeting adjourned and the Council meet informally with the members of the Board of Education and the Board of Public Health & Welfare to discuss ways of approaching the probelem of annexing suburban area Southeast and Southwest of Rochester. Upon motion by T homas, second by Leonard, and -all voting in favor thereof, the • meeting was adjourned until 7:30 o'clock P.-M. on October 21, 1963.. City Clerk.
