Due to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, President of the United States of
America, a special meeting of.the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota was held
on Saturday, November 23, 1963 with the following members being present: Aldermen Bergstedt,
DeVries, Leonard, McCaleb, Wilson. Absent: President Tingley and Alderman Thomas.
• The following resolution was read and upon motion by Leonard, second by DeVries,
and all present voting in favor thereof, the same was adopted and ordered to be made a part of
the records of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
• RESOLUTION
The Mayor and Members of the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, assembled in special meeting, wish to express and convey on
behalf of the City and all its residents their profound shock at the tragig
death of John'F.'Kennedy, the President of the United States and to express
their deepest sympathy to Mrs. Kennedy and members of the Kennedy family.
'All City Offices will be closed on Monday, November 25th,
1963 and all residents, businesses and institutions in the City are
requested to take appropriate action to•observe this day as a day of
national grief and mourning.
Upon motion by Bergstedt, second by Wilson, and all present -voting in favor thereof,
the meeting was adjourned.

Due to the assassination of''John F. Kennecy, President of the United Stated, the
meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota scheduled for 7:30 o'clock
P. M. on Monday, November 25, 1963 was cancelled.
