Minutes of a.special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on May 27, 1966.
President DeVries called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon, the following members
being present: President DeVries, Day, Eichten, Folkert, Perry, Wilson. Absent: Alderman
McCaleb.
The call of the special meeting was read and President DeVries ordered the same
placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of changing the Ward
Boundaries of the City of Rochester and any other business the Council may deem proper.
A map of the proposed ward boundaries was presented by the Planning Director and
was discussed by the Council. Alderman Wilson then introduced an ordinance redetermining
the boundaries of the various Wards of the City of Rochetter, Minnesota, which was given its
first reading. A motion was made by Wilson, second by Eichten, that the rules be suspended
and the ordinance be given its second reading but upon roll call; Alderman Day voted "no".
A motion was then made by Perry, second by Wilson, that the Council consider
business other than the call; all voted in favor thereof.
The three following resolutions adopted by the Public Utility Board were each
read and thei_.same"were ordered placed on file:
"Be it resolved by the Public Utility Board of the City of Rochester that
the insurance proposal of W&Jter C. Heins Agency for $10,434.00 be accepted
the policy to be in accordance with specifications on file and approved by
the Fire Underwriters Inspection Bureau and to date from June 1, 1966."
"Be it resolved by the Public Utility Board of the City of Rochester that
$500,000.00 be appropriated to the First National Bank for the purchase of
Federal Intermediate Credit Banks Consolidated Debentures
dated June 1, 1966 and maturing March 1, 1967 and bearing interest at the
rate of 5.6% percent per annum.
Be it further resolved that these debentures be purchased for Electric
Department Depreciation Reserve."
"Be it resolved by the Public Utility Board of the City of Rochester that
the Common Council of said City authorize the said Board to enter into a
contract with THE SANITARY COMPANY, INC. for furnishing labor, tools and
materials for rebuilding an underground Steam line on Third Avenue West
from First Street N. W. to Second Street S. W. and West Center from Third
Ave. to Fourth Ave. the amount of the contract to be SIXTY ONE THOUSAND
FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($61,450.00) and The Sanitary Company, Inc.
being the lowest responsible bidder.
Be it further resolved that the Common Council direct the Mayor and
City Clerk to execute the contract documents."
The three following resolutions were each introduced and read and upon motion made
and seconded and all present voting in favor thereof, President DeVries ordered the same duly
passed and adopted:
Resolution authorizing acceptance of insurance proposal of Walter C. Heins Agency
for Public Utility Department. Upon motion ty Day, second by Perry, resolution adopted.
Resolution authorizing Public Utility Board to enter into contract with The
Sanitary Company, Inc. Upon motion by Wilson, second by Eichten, resolution adopted.
Resolution authorizing Public Utility Board to purchase Federal Intermediate
Credit Bank Consolidated Debentures. Upon motion by Wilson, second by Day, resolution adopt

that the Rochester Bus Line, Inc. of Rochester, Minnesota be authorized to discontinue
the operation required under its certificate and that regular route common carrier
certificate No. 18 be cancelled effective midnight on Wednesday, June 15, 1966 and that
the applicant give one week's notice to its patrons of the discontinuance of its operation
by posting such notice in all its buses and by a notice in the newspaper in the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, was read and President DeVries ordered the same placed on file.
Upon motion by Wilson, second by Eichten, and all present voting in favor
thereof, the meeting was adjourned.
