HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-27-19667658 Record of Official Proceedings of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minn., October 27, 1966 Minutes of'a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on October 27, 1966. President DeVries called the meeting to order at 3:30 o'clock P. M., the following members being present: President.DeVries, Aldermen Day, Eichten, Folkert, McCaleb, Wilson. Absent: Alderman Perry. . The call of the -special meeting was read and President DeVries ordered the same placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of transferring the F.V.W. liquor license to a new location and a dance permit for N.F.O. and any other business the said Common Council may deem proper. The recommendation of the Public Safety Committee stating that they had considered the request of the Whitlock Sonnenberg Post #1215, Veterans of Foreign Wars, to have the on - sale intoxicating liquor license now issued to them at 12� Fourth Street S. W. transferred to 16 Sixth Street S. W. and recommend that the request be approved was read. Upon motion by Wilson, second by Eichten, and all voting in favor, the recommendation was approved and the license transferred. A resolution granting one public dance permit to N.F.O. was read and upon motion by Wilson, second by Eichten, and all voting in favor thereof, President DeVries declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. A motion was then made by Wilson, second by Eichten, that the Council conduct business other than the call; all voted in favor thereof. A notice from the State of Minnesota, Division of Labor Conciliation, stating that on October 24, 1966 a petition was received from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 49 of St. Paul requesting the State Labor Conciliator to act in the dispute with the City Council, Rochester, Minnesota; pursuant to this petition a conference has been scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, November 1, 1966 in the Rochester Court House, Rochester, Minnesota; Minnesota Statutes 179.52 obligates both parties to meet in good faith with the Labor Conciliator in an attempt to reach a settlement to this dispute; if the governmental body involved is to meet with the Labor Conciliator through a subcommittee or a designated representative, this subcommittee or representative should be authorized to do so by the governing body in the form of a resolution or motion, was read. Upon motion by Folkert, second by Wilson, Alderman Vincent Folkert, Mr. Herbert Howe, R. V. Ehrick, City Attorney and C. J. Haas Personnel Director were authorized to represent the City of Rochester at the said meeting; all present voted in favor.
