Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on October 16, 19
President Postier called the meeting to order at 12:00 o'clock noon, with
the following _members being present: President Postier, Alderman Cherland, Larson,
Ludowese, McNary, Strain, Willmarth. Absent: None.
The call of the special meeting was read and President Postier ordered the
same placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of considering
Sunday Liquor License Applications and any other business the said Common Council may
deem proper.
The applications for Special Sunday;.License to sell intoxicating liquor of
The Kahler Hotel, the Sheraton Hotel, Holiday Inn, Inc., The Town House, Inc. and Tropic
Lounge, Inc. were each presented. Upon motion by Larson, second by Strain, and all voting
in favor thereof, except Alderman Willmarth who voted "nay", the applications were
. approved and the licenses granted.
The application for transfer of the "On Sale" intoxicating liquor license
now held by Depot House, Inc. to SAY Corporation and also the -application for the Special
Sunday license were each presented. Upon motion by Strain, second by Larson, and all
voting in favor, the transfer and license were granted, subject to approval of the
Public Safety Committee.
Alderman Ludowese said he was very disturbed when he read last evening's
paper and saw that one of the County Board of Commissioners accused the City of having
"special interest groups" represented on -the City Planning & Zoning Commission, he did not
elaborate and Ludowese felt this was an unfair accusation; he said since he had been on
the Council the Planning & Zoning Commission has done a real good job, for a fact he said
in the very recent past one of the Board members clients had something comeup and the
Board Member excused himself from the discussion and decision; Alderman Ludowese said he
would like to commend the Planning & Zoning Commission on the fine work they are doing
and he did not think we had one man on the Commission that has "special interests". The
other Council members agreed.
• Upon motion by Larson, second by Ludowese, and all voting in favor; the
-meeting was adjourned.
